A bit of a tutorial....sort of

Happpppppppy monday!  How was your Easter?  Ours was very low key, just the three of us together.  I hestitatingly have a bit of a tutorial to share today.  I say that rather shyly because I am not very good at them.  My pictures are horrible and I am sure I forgot a step or two but with your encouragement I am ready to share.  Hopefully I will get better at these as time goes on.  PLEASE let me know what you think.  Today I woke up and all be it quite cloudy it was sooo much warmer than it has been.  It reminded me that my gardening is right around the corner and my flowers will be peeking out soon.  I was inspired to try my hand at a gardening pocket.  As you can see in the first pic we have an average file folder...I basically cut it in half, decided on the papers I wanted to cover it with and cut them to size, and than stitched it up.   I also used my 1 3/4 circle punch and punched a half circle at the top for some detail.   Now there are NO rules to these...you can go smaller or bigger...depending on what you have in mind to tuck inside.   I knew that I would be using quite large tags...almost card size really and needed a good size pocket.   Also brain storm and have fun coming up with a theme.....so many to choose from.   That is where I usually start.....than I go crazy going through my drawers and cubbies finding things that make good companions to the theme.   This is such a good way to use up bits of this and that.    So from there... I just laid my items out on the pocket as you can see in the 5th pic....playing around with placement.    Than went to work adhering everything...  that is where I ran into TROUBLE.   It always happens....MR. BAILEY decided that he must partake of my lap.   This cat does not take NO for an anwer ladies.   This pic of him is a close up of him IN MY LAP.   He trys to sneak into it from all angles.   I usually give up and give him a bit of cuddle time.    Sigh....he is just too cute to say no too.    Well as you can see the file folder pocket is very easy to do.   Once I had it done...it was time to have fun making up tags.   I just love to use layers of things together.....this one has many shades of pink...which was my main color.   lots of butterflies...a few birdies....images of flowers and seed packets.   Just have fun..that is what it is about.  I hope you enjoyed.....let me know if you try one!    I am off to make some dinner for me and son.  Before I go thank you to all that wished me well.  I am just about over it!   Hugs, cherry

Glad to hear you're feeling better. Just look at the oodles of goodness with this pocket! I love those litle gardening gloves--wherever did you find them?! With our mild winter, our spring flowers bloomed early and have now dried up but the azaelas are getting ready to bloom. Too funny with your cat--my dog is always on my lap if I'm sitting anywhere!

What lovely work!!! The little touches of black in the butterfly, in the trim around the bird, with the pink rose and the rick rack embellishment all go together so well. I admire your work and have taken the liberty of putting a link to your blog on my own new one. If that's not okay, please let me know.
