Can YOU do the CAN CAN?

Hunter here is offering you up some hot cocoa...while you try to figure out what the heck anyone in their right mind would take this awful can for? Maybe I really have lost my mind. Awhile back I asked how much this can was at a garage sale. The old man just shook his head (thinkin I was loco..I know he was) and said.."Well...ohhh..Just take it". I am sure he was glad to get rid of it. I liked the handle on it...so sue me. It sat there and sat there....until I decided to sand it and spray paint it. Now I know this isn't Einstein here or the answer to world peace...but I kinda think it turned out cute. I decoupaged the can and antiqued it. Made some embellishments for it..added one of those adorable sparkly birds Michaels had for 29 cents! I crushed the can it a bit and added some berries. C'mon it is recycled art! Did I convince you to try the can can? Yeah I know corny. But you know you have one of those cans just lying around..begging for a new purpose. Enuff already....you say?

SO I took your word for it and added the beadboard to the bottom part of the shelves. I should say husband did...you were all right...it makes it look more finished. Someday maybe the cabinets will get a makeover. SOMEDAY. Till than this will have to do. I shared some more pics of the kitchen in its bright cheery Christmas self. The snowflake I hung in each kitchen window...they are of course from the Dollar Tree. I found the old chalkware Santa in a second hand store for .25....I love his old worn appearance. I also found that tiny little paper mache house. NOW For those that have not discovered them....those trees...the sparkly ones at the top....TARGET had them for 2.50 in front. Some of you may already know that discovery but for those that don't ....RUN to TARGET. I got like 6 of them. VeRY vintage looking. Well I leave you with the discarded count down tags........they days are flying by. Hunter has gotten a kick out of taking them down. My tree branches are looking empty. Well goodnight...I have enjoyed seeing everyone's beautiful decor and so many of you have written such lovely things about the season and the reason for it. I will be back tomorrow. NIght, night.

Fa La La La La La...........

Well everyday I swear this will be the day that I am done....but STILL not quite yet. Most of the totes are packed away again...a few stragglers are left. I have neglected some house cleaning so that is on the to do list. PLEASE people tell me you are NOT done...please?????? Throw me a bone. Friday we went to get our tree....and after several hours and a good 80 miles round trip we were still empty handed. YEP. Struck out. I came home and cried myself to sleep. See we live in the land of PINES....so we thought we would venture out to find a fir. It didn't happen...we went on old logging roads and no dream plump tree did we find. We had already bought the permit...and did not want to break down and buy one from a lot. They never last as long. Well dh went out the next day and went hiking for one...it is not my dream tree but it will have to do. OHHH yeah and the dang thing fell over....AFTER I had got all my ribbons, baubles etc on it...last night..........CRrrrrrrrrPLUNK. SIGH. Well the old girl is up now....TIED to the wall. Wanted to share some more tidbits here and there....and a "little wood tree project"...covered with papers and embellished. I tucked it among my old door knobs. Well tomorrow I SWEAR...things will be done. How about you? Night, night! Cherry

A Kitchen Corner...

A Corner of my kitchen that has a bit of Christmas cheer. It is spreading through out the house. Most pieces were found at garage sales or second-hand stores. I collect the holly berry motif that Target had a few years back. The funny part is the only pieces I got from Target are the plates you see stacked. The other pieces were found here and there. If you think that I bought that candle because of the polka dot ribbon...YOU would be right. I am a sucker for polka dots...the candle ain't half bad either. I also wanted to share a plate project with you. I have had these plain white restaurant plates for awhile. I wanted more Christmas plates to display so I took some reproduction postcards..with scenes of Winter and decoupaged them onto the plates. After that I used glitter glue and drew a line around them. VERY easy. I think they will stand in the OTHER corner of my kitchen. That is about it for me. I have had a lot of fun venturing out into all your homes decked out for this season....I am patiently waiting to see more...tap, tap. Night, night, cherry

(First of all I apologize for the dark pictures....my house is horrible...no natural light.)

I don't know about you but if I don't get the ideas that roll around in my head on to paper...I lose them! So I have had this garage sale journal for awhile and decided to give it a redo. I found this cherry paper...and it was perfect for this. Now when those ideas pop into my head right before drifting off I can write them down here. I leave it next to my bed. The star is a Dollar Tree find...it was cute just the way it was...but I had to give it a redo.
I would be willing to bet some of you ladies have some of these old sewing spools....I have always loved them. They make great places to perch things on. I decided to brighten them up a bit and roll Christmas ribbon around them. Here is how they ended up with some of my favorite little trinkets on them. Next to them I set my POTTERY BARN version of some bottle brush trees in an apothecary jar. I got all my tags done for my Count down tree and hung them today. They are just mailing tags that I decorated very simply with a piece of Making Memories paper...they already had all the numbers on it and I cut them out. I am trying very hard to use what I already have....other than a few small purchases at the Dollar Tree & the dollar section of Target...I am using items from around the house. Our budget (just about non-existent..hohoho) is tight. I know many are in the same plight..... I guess that can make you more creative trying to use things you have in a new way. So off to decorate some more. Sarah over at http://thriftydecorchick.blogspot.com/ Is having a party! Show us some of your favorite things party! So go on over and add your blog to Mr. Linky! By the way "Sound of Music" is one of my fave movies..but I digress....wink, wink, cherry
