using stamps big and small

Apparantly I am as nuetral as Switzerland today. I know.. bad joke. I was craving creams and whites with a touch of black. So I went with it! I grabbed two of my favorite stamp sets. I used the Christmas Tidings and Pine Wreath sets to create a card and a set of gift tags. Now with my tags I wanted to show a project with my stamp being the main image..which of course is the wreath. I did just a touch of coloring using a distress marker on the wreath ribbon and they poinsettia leaves that I fussy cut out. I like to cut them out and than use them for demension. I added some ribbons and some kraft tags stamped with a sentiment from the set. Of course a button or two...and a jingle bell had to be added. I never tire of them!
Now if you let me ramble a bit... as a stamper...I find I am not a traditionalist. I am not big on coloring to add personality but lean more on stamping my images and either layering them or fussy cutting. I admire others coloring projects but feel for the most part it just isn't for me. I love demension. I love to fuse things together....diecuts, embellishments, along with my stamps. I also sometimes like to double stamp and than use my pattern paper to enhance the stamped image. When I first started I felt a bit intimidated by those that used all stamps on a card etc. I realized that I could start small and work from there. So as you can see on the second project, my card, I used an ornament as my main image. To add detail I relied on the Christmas tidings set. I stamped the border at the bottom and also used the poinsettia image again and cut it out. I nestled it amongst the ribbon and rusty bell. I enhanced the antlers by using the black soot jellie dots which gave the card a pop of color. I added a rubon for my sentiment to complete my look.
So if you are just starting out with your stamp adventure and feel overwhelmed, remember you can always use them for the details in your projects. They do not always need to be the main focal point. Start small and work from there. I think that is what is fun with using stamps...they really are so versatile and show your true style. As always I hope you enjoyed my projects! hugs, cherry

My Little Shoebox and Epiphany Crafts...

HI there guys!
Sooo excited to be working with My Little Shoebox goodies AND Epiphany Crafts today! I decided to make an ultra shabby card…since I was lucky enough to play with My Little Shoebox’s Vintage shop collection. It was a natural fit. So sweet! This collection is full of cottage charm. I really wanted to add emphasis to the roses…and did so by cutting out the doily rose images with the round 25 tool and round bubblecaps. I did a full row of them with old vintage buttons in between. Love the glass cabochon effect the epoxy gives to the images. Hope you enjoy! Cherry

Cozy Christmas Cottage

Happy Sunday eve!  Did you have a good weekend?  It is still a bit of a construction zone here...kitchen is almost done...and now we have work going on in the guest bathroom.  I found some time to pop in to my craft room and deck the halls with this little paper mache house.  Sometimes it is fun to be able to do something... with no deadlines.  I used some etsy images, lots of faux greenery, and other fun little tid bits.   I LOVe to use faux greenery on everything for Christmas.  Adds the depth I love on most things.   Touchy feely.  I added some stamp detailing from Purple onion and old antique metal buttons.  Add a healthy dose of mica flakes and I was done.   Hope you like!  hugs, cherry

Old Fashion goodies..

who doesn't like those old fashion Victorian images?   Old world Santas and sweet cherubic angels.   I never tire of them and there seems to be countless images which means endless possibilities when it comes to creating with them.  It is my day to share a little something something over at the RRR blog .  I was having so much fun I made two cards instead of one. I have become quite smitten with the two tone gold textured ribbon . I used it on both cards. Love the iridescent quality it has.
The first card I did with more traditional colors..with reds and golds I added a bit of 1/2 inch wrinkle ribbon in red to pop off the gold ribbon on the first card. The second I did more neutral with the golds. It is fun to see the outcome with the same ribbon but with different color combos. I also added some lace to both cards using the Penelope lace in natural . So have you started with your Christmas cards? It will be here soon! Hope you have been inspired! As always thanks for letting me share.  I have come around to visit many of you so that you know.  I tried to comment to some...but discovered that you do not have a blog.  I wanted to say thank-you to you for visiting!    Hugs, Cherry

Winter Holiday

Hi ya all!  Can you believe it is November?  November 1st means a fun  challenge at the  RRR Blog .  This time it has a "winter holiday" theme with ribbons..of course.  I love mittens.... they bring to mind home, warmth, and childhood of course...and they def. symbolize winter.  Which is just around the corner.  I decided to make some oversize chipboard tags.  I covered them in some of the new Authentique christmas line and stitched around the edges of each mitten.   I added some fun digital images along with some chipboard stars I glittered up with tarnished silver.   I added paper fringe and some cute stamped tags and of course topped it off with some ribbons .  I used bright red and moss green seambindings.   I also wound some Christmas twine through the tags so they can attach to a package or hang from a knob.  I have had fun tucking in berries into my ribbons...so many lovely choices from Michaels.  Make sure to go check out the other girls projects...so much inspiration.  Several new designers on board as well!  Hope you enjoy and thanks for letting me share!    Hugs, cherry

Happy Halloween!

Hi there!  Wow.  Just wow.  I  want to say thank-you so soo much for chiming in ..taking the time to leave some love.   I was so happy to see some lurkers that I now consider new friends say hi.    I really enjoy knowing who is here and visiting me.   I know everyone is busy..as I said before.  I know also that there are days when people do not have time to comment.  I am guilty of it myself.  Life happens.
That said....it does get a bit sad when you take time to create, share goodies, do tutorials, blog, and yet you feel alone.   Especially when your blog stats say other wise.   So again..thank you for letting me know you ARE here.   I hope to hear from you more!  Today I had to share a spookem of course....it IS HALLOWEEN.   A fun altered pendant.  I used a bunch of cutie patootie Scaredy Cat goodies from Pretty Little Studio.   I love that flirty little Jack o lantern.  Add some papers, a glittered 3d frame, and lots of yummy ribbons from Really Reasonable ribbons and you have a fun festive piece to decorate your home with.   Hope you enjoy!  hugs, cherry

The Dilemma

Wow.   Did you all fall off the face of the earth?   Does anyone come visit anymore...or should I close this ole blog down?   I hope someone is out there.  From my blog count there are a  lot of visitors but hardly anyone actually comments.   I know we are all busy but it is a bit disconcerting like I am talking to myself.  Hmmmm.
I came by tonight to share some cards...I have quite the dilemma between Santas and snowmen.  Which is my favorite?  One minute I swear it is good ole frosty and the next....Kris Kringle.  So the struggle continues.  I have been trying in vain to use some of my stash....I have quite a huge Christmas stash...like I am sure many ofyou do.   I do not need one single new thing....but who was buying a few new sheets of Christmas paper today at our local scrapbook store?  Me.  yep.  I can't help  myself.   I surely can not say no to those lovely old victorian images of Santa....my wheels spin with ideas for St Nick.   So they come home with me.
Another dilemma?  Color combos.  REDS and BLUES...bestill my heart...but than traditional reds and greens...ohhh jeese....... I will save that for another day!   Hope you enjoy!  OHHHHHH and lurkers could you please say hi???     Hugs, cherry
