Oh NO she has gone and done it!

Yep she has gone and done it (yes I was speaking of myself in the 3rd person..I think the paint fumes may have gone to my head). I painted my dining chairs red. My signature red that I love so! I love it! They now have a nice contrast to my white table. But...... as many of you know these things can open a can of worms. Now that the chairs are red....sigh....I am not so sure about my black shelf unit on wall. I like a little black here and there but I think red, white, and now the black may be to much for my little space here( better break out some more red paint please, see below). AND if that wasn't enough.. I don't like the seats being natural wood(poly'd them long ago) sooo they need sanding OR slipcovered. Which way you think I am leaning on that one? Eghaaaaaaaaads....YES she has gone and done it! xoxo, cherry

  2. I love the red! I love it next to the black too! You seem to have lots of white/red in the black hutch so it seems to pull it together! What about red toile cushions or slip cover for the seats? Would love to see a pic with the table included. I am right in the middle of painting ALL my dark furniture in my living room white, after 20 years!

  3. I LOVE the chairs RED! They look fantastic! I think you should leave the hutch black, it looks great with the red and white! I vote either chair pads or slips for the seats! I really like them wood because they resemble rush seats.
What color red paint did you use? it's perfect!

  5. I love your chairs. You must tell me what type of paint you used as I have 10 chairs that I want to paint black.
I also think you should leave the shelves black. They look very nice with the item you have on them. And... I also vote for fabric on the seats.
    You have a gorgeous home!

  7. I think you did a great job on your chairs, and I LOVE the little black cabinet! The way you have red accent pieces on he black shelf is just the right touch to pull it all together with the rest of your room. It doesn't look "too busy" to me at all.
In fact, it looks wonderful, and well thought out!
    Have a great day!

  9. I love the red and black. Looks like you have a winner! I love red too. I have red stairs! I am about to paint a desk red. Painting things red must be something to do with fall, it just seems like the thing to do! :-)

  10. I love the red and your roosters! It all blends well nicely. A little gingham slipcover never hurt anything IMHO. Looks great!!

  11. Love Love Love the red! And I am also a big fan of red with a little black. Black is such a grounding color. Rooms just benefit from it. I am a fan of your style for sure!

  13. Hi Cherry! Goodness, I love that black cabinet because I see cherries on it! It is a great contrast to your dishes that are on it, too. I spy several adorable things in the background!! Love the red..very bold! What red is it? Do you share? Have a wonderful weekend! Becky

  15. Your red chairs looks so pretty! I would make little cushions that have a flirty skirt for the seats (I'd probably use a toile, but I'm a toile-aholic LOL).

  16. Thank-you very much for the kind comments. The red is an Ace Paint called Dried Tomato. Love it...used it on my front door and my back french doors outside. xoxo, cherry

  18. Cherry, that is fabulous! We are totally on the same wave length, too. I was just thinking about painting my kitchen set red. Your red is the exact color I had in mind. Great minds do think alike, don't they?

    Cheers! LA

  20. The red is perfect! I cast my vote for seat cushions made from an old tablecloth or two. What about a soft green or an old fashioned powdery blue for the cabinet. Hmmm... maybe black is still the best choice... Blessings... Polly

  21. they look great! I think a short slip cover for the seats would be really cute too. But they are great just as they are.
