Crafty Christmas Projects...

& other peeks of Christmas Cheer. It's spreading , Oozing from every nook and cranny....contagious...? I HOPE so! Christmas Spirit...that is. Pacing ones self is a must (at least for me). Still don't have the tree (this weekend's project). We go out in the woods and have to travel a good distance to get a good one. We only have Ponderosa around here. I have to admit a bit of stress has been rearing its head. I just feel soooo slow compared to so many of you. I move at a snail's pace. Maybe I putter to much? I feel like I am doing everything but not getting anything accomplished. Anyone else feel like that? Still have a lot of shopping to do, not yet have I baked. The decorating is still not done. I heard one person say if its not out by Dec. 1st than it isn't getting put out. Dec. 1st? Holy cow. I am wayyyy behind than. Who's voice was it declaring they were taking their time? Hmmmm...seems ages ago. Please give a shout out if you are not completely under control. Would love to hear from you...lol. I can however share some crafts with you all...Martha or not. Love doing the cones..did a few last year as gifts. Like to fill them with candycanes or eggs with shredded paper. I pick up vintage Christmas cards here and there and made some into "art" using my scrapbook papers & ribbon. I made the Santa banner using the font from http://allsorts.typepad.com/allsorts/2006/10/halloween_freeb.html. Lucky enough to have found vintage bells that I used in between the letters. Of course I used more glitter letters to make tags spelling out Noel. I love to decorate many of my projects with the faux snow. The container is a recycled oatmeal container. Tomorrow I will show the Christmas houses I have been making. I started doing them last year and find them pretty addicting. I used paper mache bird houses. xoxo, cherry

  3. Hi Cherry - I disagree, you are not "puttering" along - you're going full steam ahead by the looks of your pretties!! Great pics and your home looks beautiful for Christmas.

Enjoy tree hunting this weekend - hope you find the perfect one for you - have a great time decorating.

  4. Me again - yes, I love those silver pieces you show. Cherry, do you know how to tarnish silver quickly by chance? The Italian ice bucket I recently purchased needs to be toned down - guess the owner had polished it for sale. I've heard using shoe polish or perm solution - both sound scary to me!

If you have any ideas I'd be most grateful - if not I'll just have to be patient and wait for Father Time to work his magic. Do you think leaving it outside might help (on covered porch or in the gazebo) where the air will get to it? Gals who have silver in damp climates say it always needs polishing?

  5. I'm feeling a bit behind this year too Cherry. I've done some baking, decorations are up (minus the tree) but the shopping is no where near where it should be for this date. Somehow it will all get done though, it always does :)

    Hugs,

  16. Hey Cherry: I'm one of many who is taking my time. My tree is up but not much else. I wanted to put candles in my windows but then realized my storm windows weren't in yet. So I've been spending the last 2 days putting in storm windows....I'll be ready for the candles tomorrow. It will all get done, it always does. No need to fret.....

  19. Cherry your Christmas crats are beautiful! I especially love the banner and the cones and NOEL cards. So pretty! I am in the same boat that you are in, shopping not done, baking not begun, decorating, well it may have to do for this year, but not finished in my mind:>) Well, time to let the idea of perfection go and just enjoy the season. It's the only way to go. Hope you have a hapopy one!
