I had to share my dough ornaments. Doing these took me down memory lane. I remember doing them as a kid. My parents , when they were first married & had a lack of funds, made some for their Christmas tree. I went to one of my fave blogs http://cobblestonefarms.blogspot.com/ and there they were again in all their nostalgic glory.. but this time done in a Halloween motif. I was tickled pink to see she had shared the recipe. She had done them as Halloween ornaments or bowl fillers. I loved her Boo button ideas and had to follow suite. I made a bunch more but have yet to paint them. My son and I had fun doing this together. YOU MUST GO SEE HER SITE....this lady is talented. She has her own store and decorates like a diva. PLUS....she paints. You gotta check out her bench she just posted and if you have time go back in her archives. If you still want to add your name for the give-away please do so on the post about it. Almost the weekend.....Yea!!!!! I wanted to edit this to say Thank-you Darlene for sharing how to Strike a word....I am so glad we all share the how tos...I would never learn otherwise.

The House That Cherry Built.
So still not feeling myself...but felt compelled to build a house....a creepy one anyway. You didn't know I was a carpenter huh? I am a Jack Jill of all trades. Well mini houses I am. I have made several little Christmas houses in the last two years..and it finally dawned on me "why not a haunted house?" Lord knows I have plenty of paper. So last night I drew a template with a ruler...very simple straight lines with a roof and chimney. The ruler did all the work. Used some chip board (I save this everytime I get it) and went to town cutting out all the shapes. Punched some holes with my crop-a-dile and drew ribbon threw and embellished it! Painted my bottle brush trees black and hot glued this puppy together. Fun, fun, fun while watching "Lipstick Jungle". I threw in a few Halloween pics...things that I am setting out here and there. Ms. Fancy Cat I got in Kansas back last Oct. Had to make a tag for the Dollar Tree pumpkin..cause I am a tag girl. Plopped it on top of one of many scales.
I LOVE the house that you "built"! I will definitely be copying you and making a red one for christmas!
ReplyDeleteDo you know how amazingly talented you are?!?!?!?!?!!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you have some kind of imagination. WOW!!

Oh that is just some serious cuteness!!!!
ReplyDeleteAbout la' blog help. Email me and if you don't mind, give me your phone number. When we are talking HTML it's way to hard to do it via email. Just let me know when a good time to call is. I am a night owl and it's easier for me to talk when the kiddies are reading their eyelids. :)

Your projects are so darn cute. I wish you were my neighbor. I would just take some of those projects off your hands. You really didn't want all of them anyway, right?

Hi Cherry
ReplyDeleteI love your spooky haunted house. I would love to see your Christmas houses too if you ever make any more. The dough ornamments look great. I did some dough craft years ago. I made miniature loaves of bread for doll houses and other food from polymer clay. I will definately check out the cobblestonefarm. Thanks again for a lovely post full of inspiration.
Lindsay

ReplyDeleteI LOVE that hauted house... what a great craft for me to do with the children this weekend! Thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteVery cool house and I love the cookie looking dough ornaments. Those would be safe around me in our house. ;-) I am always watching my figure.
ReplyDeleteAbout the Nick Saban news report on my blog, that was a joke. Saban is the former head coach for the Miami Dolphins. Alabama University hired him away to be their head coach for like 10 mil (yeah). Well, in less than 2 years he has taken a team with a losing streak and turned it around. In addition, they beat the Georgia University Bulldogs last weekend for the first time since 1992. The whole state is still reeling from all the excitement. However, Saban and the 'boys' are ever so humble. When a microphone is put in their face, all they say, "we have a lot to learn..., we have a lot of work ahead of us..."
Saban has said those boys are here to get an education and to LEARN how to play football and that is what they are going to do. And from what I understand, he has turned the UA football program into a bootcamp. Which is what it needed.
Oh Cherry...you are a talented crafty lady! So glad I get to visit you and get inspired!
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented! I love that house!! Heck, I love everything you do! Your Halloween decor is straight out of a magazine. Are you really Martha Stewart??
ReplyDeletewow that is too cool!! When I watch women like you scrapbooking I am always blown away...mostly by the financial investment they have made in all of that fancy stuff. I am a very mediocre paper princess.and have still managed to spend a bit.but put a ball of yarn and two sticks in my hand and I make magic!
ReplyDeleteOh, Cherry!
ReplyDeleteEverything is just too precious, for words!
You are just so talented -- I can't wait to see what you make for Thanksgiving and Christmas!!!
That is so sweet (about your parents making their own ornaments!) Did they save any? What an heirloom! Even if they didn't; they have given you a memory, and..... a love of crafting!
Thank you for the link to the dough recipe -- I'll bet our children would love to make some with us! It sounds like such a sweet family activity!!
Many Blessings,
Julie
P.S. Thank you for the visit!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE the house you built! I built one out of rolled cookies last year and it was a freaking mess...although it looked spooky that way. I think it would have been much easier to have made it out of paper/cardboard so that I don't have to make another one this year!
ReplyDeleteI also really like the pumpkin tag.
Pretty displays! :)
