Altered State of Mind.......

NOOOO I am not talking mind altering drugs here or the fact I am needing to flee the coop to the NUT house (although I think I live in one from time to time). I am talking altering your mind....OR maybe the better term of "thinking outside the box".........although I sure do LOVE boxes....ok I digress here........ JUST simply seeing things in a new way. I LOVE it when my mind works that way.....and I get that "AAAAAAAAAAhhhh" moment and I say to myself this would make a great...............fill in the blanks people. Today I thought I would share a couple of pieces altered with papers and found vintage items. I LOVE boxes...as you well know..and I have a "Super Women" magnetism for finding things to change ....I always find something I can alter at Goodwill. Last week I found this metal box....it had potential with its whimsical top....but I knew I could kick it up a notch and use some color. So I did just that with paint and paper. The other piece was transformed similiarly.....but mostly with paper. I took my diecutter (can't live with out it) to make the "roof"....and fluffed the pieces up for dimension....ends up looking like lace to me. I added some vintage pieces....a milk cap and an old game piece.....3....to signify the 3 of us together.....of course a mama bird had to be added. Birds just make everything look better...don't they? Do you have something you can alter...make it your own? Well that is it for me .....I will be adding a few goodies to my etsy here later today..........so come by and look! XoXo, cherry

  2. Very Cute boxes!! which die cutter do you use? I'm thinking about buying one-I'm doing it all the old fashioned way! YIKES
Your pre-occupation for boxes? I just recently discovered that I do also! I have hat boxes, wooden boxes, tins, "book" boxes, jewelry boxes... I think mine stems from my childhood and my aunt who always made such pretty boxes.
    Enjoy the day!

  3. Cherry, I smiled as I read down through your post, especially when I read the question you asked, "is there anything your alter? My mind just does not work like yours does...oh, I wish it did. Your work(every new project)you do, amazes me. I thoroughly enjoy every visit I make to this blog. The box is so unusual and so clever. If I was in a gift shop, I would pick out that box right away.
