Ahhhh those fall colors...

I know I have said before I LOVE Summer.......the sunshine and the warmness.....BUT who can deny Autumn colors....talk about warmth!  Love the saturation of color this time of year....golds, burnt oranges, touches of black.  Simply yummy!  Anyways....I have put away the Halloween for now....till next year.  I am done.  Moving on to turkeys and pilgrims...and a few Santas.  Santa's you say?  GET OUT OF TOWN!  Just can't resist my drawer full of candy canes and jolly Santas!  Well again...I tried doing a little wee embellishing inside one of my cards..this time with the Halloween one...found a vintage halloween book page and of course it became a card.   Other than that more of my fave vintage style images!  I just dig those old broads....or should I say old witches?   What a kick!  Well I am off to walk a bit.  IF you are in the market for a witch or two..check out my etsy at http://www.etsy.com/shop/cherryjn  Hugs, cherry

GCD STUDIOS September Project...give that teacher an apple!

It's that time again....back to school time that is!  We were to be inspired by the fun picture up above.  I kept thinking ...black boards, black boards, black boards.  Also what popped into my mind are those vintage style journal notebooks with the black spines.  You can see the socks up above that look just like that.  I decided to make a fun teacher's gift set....something to say "thank-you" for all that hard work.  I used GCD Studio's Artsy Urban line papers, Artsy Urban felt borders, and if you look closely I am now getting my feet wet with the Melody Ross's embossing tool.  I did a little fun touch by embossing stars onto my chipboard star.  I than went over the star with some distressing ink....looks a lot like leather.  SOOOO very cool.  Love the effect you get with this.  Can't wait to play more with it.  HOpe you like my take on the "school theme".   Hugs to all, Cherry

Saturday shares...

WELL hello there......sorry to be such a no show lately.  I have not been creating much to share.  Don't really know what has been eating up my time....ohh wait yes I do...life.  Today actually hit the 80's again...sigh...LOVED IT.   I don't look forward to cold weather and snow.  Not my thing.  Even as I write..there is a breeze..gentle and a bit balmy.  Makes me happy!  I did however get a few new things in the mail to play with.  You  know how that goes...you immediately want to play.  So I did a bit today.  I made three cards.  I even stretched my norm and embellished the inside of one a bit.  I always neglect that.  Got some new stamp sets and diecuts that I have been wanting for-EVAAAA.  I have been good so I treated myself.  Anyways...hope you like.   Happy Saturday evening.  Hope it is a sweet one.  XoXo, Cherry

Special little goodies...

No cards today....just two of my fave type of projects...altered plaques and a banner.  Both of which I had a lot of fun making.  When I started out today...I had plans to do other projects..but these just kinda happened...on their own.  I love when that happens...letting things unfold as they go.  I guess I was sorta in a sophisticated mood..because both pieces are a little more haaaaaaaammm....classic?  I guess.  The first piece....I took an ornate mini frame and painted it creamy white..and than sanded the dickens out of it to show a bit of the under color.  I than sprayed her with glimmer mist....I LOVE the antique look it brings  .  I use to do quite a few furniture pieces...painting, sanding, and using acyrlic paints to get a worn pantina.  Paint really can add a lot of charm.  To small pieces as well.  I sprayed my lovely seambinding as well...gives it varying undertones.  Of course the scrunched seam binding came from Prarie Bird Boutique!  Patsy's etsy store is the best!  The other project is of course the banner...I actually created the banner pieces myself...and used a ruler to makes the lines etc.  It is made from chipboard.  I wanted a classic black/white scheme....no orange for this one.  More clean and simple.  And a little bling to top it off.  Well hope you liked my sharings this evening.  I will be dipping into my Haloween goodies in a few days.  Can't wait!  Hugs to you all, Cherry

Mickey Mouse was good to us!

Hello!  It has been awhile since I last posted.  Just got back from Disneyland and it is good to be home!  Although I miss Mickey and Minnie.  It was just my son and I and we had such a good time.  We bonded over the teacups and held on for dear life on Space Mountain.  I feel so blessed to have had that time with him..just the two of us.   I can't wait to create a mini album of our pictures.  He is now back in school....7th grade..which I still have trouble grasping.  I  am all alone in our house now...and it def. takes adjusting too.  Too much quiet.  I had to have my foot worked on..minor surgery and have had a lot of time to sit and create.   I have a few projects brewing.  These are my latest Halloween items.  I really enjoy doing my art plaques.....adding bits and bobs and toppings till I get them just right.  HOpe you enjoy them! If you want to take a peek at them in my store.  Pay me a visit. http://www.etsy.com/shop/cherryjn   As ALWAYS....wouldn't use any other kind of ribbon....all the lovely seambinding is from Prairie Bird boutique.  I loved working with the gorgeous pumpkin colored one....not a dark orange...almost the color of the insides of a pumpkin.  YUMMY!  Go pay her a visit http://www.etsy.com/shop/PrairieBirdBoutique   well I am off to prop my foot up and work some more.   Good excuse NOT to do housework!  Teee heeeee.    Hugs to you all, Cherry
