soft and serene

Hello there I have a handmade silk pincushion to share today.   It is actually a sachet as well because I added a bit of vanilla essential oil inside.   I started with a basic square that I sewed up and stuffed...I embellished the base with a vintage doily.  From here I wrapped it with vintage laces along with May arts fleur de lis ribbon and White seam binding for softness.  I added a gorgeous vintage cameo brooch to the middle of the ribbons.   Added a few homemade stick pins and images and roses from Riddersholm Designs.   Practical and pretty!   enjoy, cherry

Pledge Allegiance to the flag....

Time for blog hoppin on this fine Tuesday with RRR.  You should have found your way here from Teresa's  blog.  Awesome club ribbons this month.  Perfect for a Patriotic theme (as I did), baby boy, or for Father's Day coming up.  I created another Prim bingo card using some Patriotic goodies I have been stock piling.  I used  both the navy diamond and the sailor boat motif ribbons from the club assortment on my project.  I also wound the new May arts navy and red string around my chipboard star for some texture.  I added gold accents which work perfectly with these colors I think.   I wanted a lot of dimension so I added foam adhesive to the underside of my image and stars.  Hope you enjoy...next stop for you is Jenn's blog.   Have a blast!   enjoy, cherry

Good ole USA banner...

How was your Mother's day?  Hope it was special for you.  I made dinner and dessert for my Mother and Dad.  Nice and quiet eating and talking around the table.   Thank you to those that stopped by and wished me a Happy Mother's day!
I am starting off the week with a post for RRR!   I am ramping up with the red, white, and blue...which I adore.   I hadn't made a banner in such a long time and had so much fun making this.   I used a 12 x 12 chipboard piece and cut out my own banner shapes.  Covered them in papers including digital paper from Crafty Secrets.  I used my cropadile to cut holes and wound denim blue ribbon through the holes to tie it all together.  I added my homemade paper fringe to the top , buttons, patriotic images, all things that make me happy!  I also made a couple of bows that I added to the ends made from stitched navy burlap.  I added gold accents with stars and vintage military buttons and was done.   I love it!  Some of my favorite colors.   Happy Monday!  Cherry

Happy Mother's Day to you , and you, and you!

It is Saturday and I wanted to pop in a bit early to wish you all a Happy Mother's day!  I think these cards I created for Crafty Secret's blog fit the bill!   I started off with inspirational images from the Birds and Blooms creative scraps...which you can now get in a digital set!   I also fussy cut the ONE FOND HEART banner from The Mini Vintage Creative Scraps. The chipboard heart is actually covered in bingo cards from the Creating with retro Christmas line .   I love how you can pick and choose and work different themes together.   I of course used lovely ribbons from RRR to add my vintage softness.  I add a bit of glitter and stamping to bring my sentiments together on the last twos cards using Love You Mother stamp set.  One of my very very favorite stamp sets.   Hope you enjoy...and more importantly enjoy your day tomorrow!  hugs, cherry

Crafty Secrets linky party!!!

First Monday of the month....time for some partying with Crafty Secrets!  We were challenged to come up with something to do with Red White and Blue/Patriotic/4th of July Father's Day (masculine) or Gardening/Vegetables/Flowers.   I chose to think outside the box and come up with a patriotic altered bingo card using the Sewing digitial kit and digital paper.   I adhered my bingo image to chipboard and added my chipboard scallop to the bottom of the bingo card.  I than added my red, white, and blue paper fringe, paper border , and burlap ribbon from RRR.  I than added my chipboard star and Crafty Secrets spool image layered on top.   I added a little gold star embellishment and fussy cut a United Stated banner and added it.  It was than time to add some ribbon to the top to hang.  Other than that some antique sailor buttons and I was done.  I hope you enjoy and join us in the challenge.    Make sure to go check out the other girls creations!  cherry

altered wood blocks

Well how are you today?   We are knee deep in laying flooring...house is in shambles but I popped in to share a couple of altered wood blocks I created using RRR ribbons.  I cut them from scrap, painted, and aged them up.   I than covered edges with papers and white wide crochet lace and May arts burlap ribbon with center stitch in green.   Other ribbons include seam bindings in baby pink and green.   From there it was all about adding fun little touches...the first is a gardening theme.....all in greens and stamps from PTI...the other all about home.    I used snippets of vintage laces, a bingo card, and wood knobs as well to add unique touches.  Lots of flowers and buttons were used as well.  I think these would make great Mother's day gifts.....creating your own theme.   Hope you enjoy!   Thanks for letting me share!   Cherry
