A Tale by Poe....

Does anyone remember the Raven? We had to memorize it in English class. I had found this old Poe book...Tales of Mystery and Imagination...it of course had to go with one of the infamous Dollar Tree ravens. I joined up with Melissa's from the Inspired Room's Fall Nesting Party..http://theinspiredroom.net/. Been slack this week..all I had to offer was last week's bit of Fall decorating. So glad she extended it for all of September. I however got into the spirit a bit more today. I had lucked out a couple of weeks ago and got one of the big crows at Michaels for 3.00...it had been mispriced and they honored it. They are usually 10.00 so I was jacked. I feel a little crow wealthy this year...I have been drooling over them for goin on two years in Country Living Magazine. I also feel so inspired by so many of you this year. This is one project I had to try after seeing it here http://eoberrys.blogspot.com/ and here http://bloggingwithholly.blogspot.com/. All I got to say is those pumpkins are addicting. I made 6 in one evening. The other 3 I have yet to place somewhere. I used all thrifted supplies. Well my decorating & projects thanks to all you inspiring women will be ongoing....if you feel inclined go join up at Melissa's party.....Martha Stewart even joined....no I am not kidding. TGIF! Cherry

Gorgeous! I think you are my new favorite blog! I found you earlier today but I was quickly clicking through links and didn't take the time to comment. You and I are kindred decorating spirits! I'm adding you to my favorites list.

I was thinking of coating my Dollar Tree crows with some Martha Stewart black glitter. She did some birds last Christmas that were adorable.

I'm so glad to have found your blog! I'll be back!

To be honest, I never liked Poe. The guy was seriously creepy. But that book is so perfect for Halloween decor! All of your decor is looking so great. i really love the black/white touches. You've got me thinking I need to paintall my faux orange punkies white! And i love the crows too. I already had a couple, but I just bought one more of the small ones.

I love your fall decorating. Your house looks fantasic. You have given me some great ideas.
Thanks for your comment on my blog. In answer to your question, I would be delighted to be added to your blog list. Thanks so much. A car boot sale is similar to what you call a yard sale I think. They are usually early in the morning and you pay something like £5 to take your car into a field or car park. You then set up a table and open up your car boot full of junk. They are fun to go to with a friend from time to time.

Cherry,
Yes, I was Dean Martin's love child!!
I am not even sure where that came from-really, I don't look like him. About the Magic Eraser, I don't know if its really good to use or not, I just know its a miracle worker. I use Mrs. Meyer's cleaning stuff for my kitchen, but for bathrooms I really like stronger stuff even if its not good for the environment. I take clean over mold anyday.

GREAT decorations! I love how you layered the frames and the old books. I might have to look around for some of those with black covers.... I picked up some of those crows, but I just haven't gotten motivated to sue them yet..:)

Your house looks amazing! I am still trying to get my hands on some of those darling crows... Maybe today? Adore your pumpkins, too! I don't sew, but maybe I could try these... What did you stuff yours with? Please stop by and tell me what you think about some candlesticks I bought yesterday. Not sure if I want to spray paint them black or not. I LOVE the way yours look. I am seeing more and more of the white pumpkins. Are they bought this way or do ya use the spraypaint?

LOVE EVERYTHING! I so remember The Raven from school as well. I've had a thing for black birds for a few years as well. I started buying them from PB and can hardly believe they're EVERYWHERE now! :) Your black branches look great on the mantle. Thank you for the inspiration!

Oh I am loving your fall decor! And your pumpkins are just too cute! I love the fabric you choose. Aren't they addicting to make. So simple yet they turn out so classy. I'm all over that! I am making some for my mom and sister in law at the moment.
The only thing that is eluding me is those darn black birds that everyone keep buying at the tree store. Ours doesn't have them. I'm so birdless.

Everything looks wonderful! I love the crows, I didn't see them at Michael's...I will have to look.
It's funny about the Edgar Allen Poe poem, it's one of those you just can't ever forget. (As were most of the things he wrote. Do you remember "The Telltale Heart"? It's really freaky.)

I might have to join in the fall decorating party after all if it's going all month. Everything I'm seeing is so beautiful and inspiring! :)

Two things--I want that black and white plate. Where, oh where, did you find it?!? Secondly, those black birds freek me out totally! I see them in Walmart and every time my skin crawls. Scary!

Love the fall decor - I haven't got any out yet - maybe I'll get in the mood in another week or so, but it is still plenty warm here!
