I was having some issues with spam too. Now all posts older than 14 days I think. Are moderated. It's totally helped. Try that first.

...as far as deleting comments just click on the lil trash can icon that pops up beside every comment and it will delete that comment!!

Beautiful! You can click on the trashcan and the comment will be deleted. I use the word verification because of that. Every time I've turned it off in the past, I got spam.

Your cards are truly magical! I think you just go into comments in your settings and delete it. You might try putting your comments on hold until you approve them in Blogger. I've been very lucky that I've never had that happen. Knock on virtual wood!
