Give Momma Some Love...

Give Momma some Love..........

Happppppppppppppppy day to you...Cherry Here for TRC today. Mother's day is just around the corner and so I thought I would focus on a little something something for the sweet Mom's in our lives. Of course a card is always nice but I thought I would create a companion piece to go along with my card. I got out my coveted TRC stamps....I used Be Stylish and give Momma some love. I also of course made sure my Scrap Happy glue was by my side. It is my security blanket...lol..it rarely leaves my side. I started with the card. I wanted to see if I could create a text style background with one of the sentiments in the "give momma some love" set...I stamped it on the top part of my cardstock staggering it a bit. I didn't worry about perfection because I knew that most of it would be covered up. I loved the font to this set , so old fashion and feminine . I added my papers to the bottom half of the card and my scroll diecut and than stitched around the edges. I inked the edges for an aged appearance as well. After that I used a scrap piece of cardstock and stamped my main sentiment and adhered it with my scraphappy glue and a button. I than went to work layering and creating my bloom.....if you look you will see that I created text onto some canvas using the "give Momma some love" stamp as well to keep with the theming. I used old lace and canvas as the base along with a vintage button. I used hot glue so that it would adhere very quickly. Other than that some homemade stick pins and crickle ribbon. Now with the the companion piece I made a "mini pincushion" of sorts using the "Be Stylish" corset. I stamped it on to some canvas I tea stained and cut it out. I stamped two images. I than layered them together and stitched around almost completely and left room to stuff just a smidgeon of fiber fill inside to puff it up. I created a base using Spellbinders Labels eight diecut. I used the largest one in the set. I covered it with my papers. Used a diecut paper frame to frame the "mannequin" out. I had a chipboard pole left from another project and used it along with the corset to create a dress form with it. I also used some vintage laces, crickle ribbons, buttons, homemade posy, and a couple little stick pins from my own stash. I had so much fun stamping onto fabric and must remember to try it again! I think this will make an adorable little gift for a fellow Mom, friend, or for your own Momma! Hope you enjoyed and thanks for letting me share! hugs, cherry

Helllllllllllllo is there anybody out there??   Where is everybody...?   Out playing in the sun?   Would you belive me if I told you yesterday we had a blizzard?  Lots of snow!  yep....and today?  Sunshine.  NO kidding.  Today I have Mother's day on the ole brain....it is around the corner.   I made a pocket...gasp.  Yes another.   This one turned out quite old fashion....lots of soft shabby pink....flowers, cameos, old fashion images, and even a homemade pincushion.   So easy to make with a bit of fiberfill and quilt batting.   I also went through my old vintage clip earrings and used one as a center.   I need to start parting with a few things or I will never have any room.  that is it...and that is that!  Sooo hope you enjoy!  Happy weekend!  hugs, cherry

Bless your little heart...

Happpppppppppppy happppppppppppppy Tuesday to all of you!  Today is my Dad's birthday and I am making creme brulee for dessert!  YUMMMM!    For some reason...I was into eggs today.. the speckled variety.   I had a wooden one that I hand painted today in a greyish blue and added specks to it....it worked perfectly on  a large tag...and well...from there  the birdy pocket full of speckled eggs came to life.   As with many of my projects they take a life of their own.....I just grab things here and there...and my heart kinda tells me when I think something is done.   Lots of K and Company goodies that I never tire of.   A little nest.....with of course a egg in it centered in a homemade bloom.  Some old old buttons still intact on pieces of card....completely imperfect..and I LOVE Them.   Do eggs and buttons go together????    I don't know...but it makes me happy.   The second is just a card I made from a paper scraps....I found I had a pink speckled egg laying in a drawer.....BOTHER...it can't stay tucked away hidden.  Out it came with some added tea stained wings...and the saying bless your heart seemed perfect!   Well that is it for me!  Well almost.....I am sooo excited and so happy I can finally share...I made the  Really Reasonable Ribbon Design Team.   Can't wait to play and share my ribbon creations with you all soon!   Rarely does a project of mine not have ribbon....it is that softness that adds just the right shabby touch!   Well I am off to make beef anjou sandwiches...and hang with my Dad, dh, and Mom!   hugs, cherry

who Knew....

Well how was your weekend?  I really enjoyed mine.....lots of family time including mini golf...which is a favorite with us.   I won!  4 eagles!  Needless to say my dh and son were not happy...sore losers!  Oh well I bought them icecream ...so all was well.    We had a lot of sunshine...which always does the soul good.  I managed a bit of creative time today after my dh left for Portland.   I have been collecting things here and there to create another parisian sewing pocket.....been picking up old scissors here and there...decided to paint a pair.  Who knew they could become art.   I love the utilitarian look of them.  Of course they work perfectly with a sewing theme.   I also picked up some of the new french General goodies over the weekend.......I LOVE french general...I have had Kari Meng's book for years.  Sooo happy that you can now get some of her goodies at Michaels.   NICE quality too.  You better run to your nearest Michaels.  Lots of gorgeous reds...my fave.   So I used some of those goodies as well...and some of my crickle ribbon I have been making.  My fave color combo of black, red, and creams.  My house is done in the same.   I added bits of kraft here and there as well.   I love the feel of it!  HOpe you enjoy...and hope you were able to enjoy some sunshine this weekend.  Happy Monday!   Hugs, cherry

The Rubber Cafe

Hello and happy thursday! I am back today to share two cards both using one stamp..but in two diffrent ways. It is the ohhhhh so vintagey Be Stylish. Ok I know I said that the mini jar set was my fave...but I think this is my new fave. Soo fun and dare I say flirty! Each card started with good ole cardstock that I adhered my fun papers too using some One and ONly tape ....the first is done in a nuetral creamy pallette..I adhered a paper diecut frame with my Scrap Happy glue . I stamped the corsette onto plain rustic cream cardstock and fussy cut it out...than inked the edges. I used foam adhesive to give it some depth from behind and than adhered it overlapping the frame a bit. I added some fun crochet lace from Really Reasonable Ribbon to the bottom portion of the corset. I also added a bit of charm using the jellie dots in the pearl finish. Other than that a few old buttons and some satin ribbon with a sweet homemade posy nestled in the middle. Now the inside is where I put the fun sentiment...it is fun to add a bit of a surprise to the inside. I added a heart and a mini tea stained posy that matches the one on the front.
The second card I stamped the corset onto pattern paper and again cut it out and inked it. I added more gorgeous jellie dots in cotton candy..they are a natural for an image like this. This time I wanted a skirt and added some fun chiffon trim to the bottom portion. Other than that....some ribbons and a little rose and I was done! I love how they both turned out...both with their own personalities. Hope you enjoy and thanks
