RRR shabby bloom tutorial

Hi there! I have a fun RRR tutorial to share today!   I have been wanting to try these blooms for awhile where you use a lighter to curl the edges up.   I knew my 1.5 inch silky crush white ribbon would be perfect to use for this.  I gathered up all my supplies and got going!  I free handed my cuts with the ribbon, cutting them into oval shapes to create rudimentary petals.  The lighter allows for a lot of forgiveness with the shapes.  As you can see from my picture you just use the lighter under each "petal" and let the heat curl the edges.  Once you have all your petals curled (I did about 10) you need to create a base for them.  I than punched a 1 1/2 inch circle for my base and than hot glued the petals on working my way around.  I than inked the edges to age it a bit.  I added a couple of satin leaves and than went to work adding some fun center pieces using different sizzix diecuts.  I added some vintage pearls to the center.
I decided to use my bloom on a pillow box.  I ran it through my die cutter and embossed it first.  I than wrapped some distressed baby pink seam binding around it and tied a big bow.  I added a vellum tag along with my sentiment and a gorgeous birdy cabochon and was done.  Can't wait to make more of these blooms!  Perfect birthday gift....tuck candy in or a gift card!  Enjoy!  Hugs, cherry

Your blossom is just gorgeous, Cherry! So soft and vintage and feminine. I haven't tried that flame technique yet, but really should give it a try. Works so perfectly with your wide ribbons. Love the finished pillow box, too!
