A mother is...

 

 

 

Well if you know me.....I love to create and recreate things that I love.  One being mothers day cards.  Been doing a lot of them lately and have enjoyed it so sooo much. You have full license to make things soft, shabby, and ultra feminine!  I created these two for RRR (which I am EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE I made the team for another term)  using several of my favorite ribbons.  I am nothing... if not predictable! 

 I love to try to be creative sometimes with my sentiments.  My first card does that my using a combination of things.  I used letters from my stash, a mini Authetique diecut, and a stamped mini tag to bring my wording together.  For my ribbons I started with the Carolina white crochet lace and than layered it with the Mauve velvet.

 Than on top of that a bit of Claudia white crochet lace.  To finish it off I topped my chipboard heart that stands in for my O with a bit of Baby pink seam binding.  The other card uses the Carolina lace again....love to ink it a bit and dirty it up.  I used a sweet older Maya road stamp set to create my border at the bottom.  I added a bit of grass from a PTI set as well in between my cottages.  To soften the card I wrapped Rose petal seam binding around the card.  My border consists of antique mother of pearl buttons and candi.  The center image are a few goodies from Michaels.  Well there you have it!  Hope your Tuesday goes well and you are inspired to create something!  hugs,

Hi everyone!  Wednesday brings a post I have to share with you for TRC I have been in the mood for making mothers day cards and these remind me of the nostalgic feeling that a mother brings.  Her sewing, crafting, housekeeping.  My first card used the Give momma some love stamp set.   Love the sweet little detail to the word Mom.  I colored it in with a Tim Holtz distress marker.  I embellished the sentiment further with a couple of cotton candy jellie dots.  I created my wreath from little berry twigs and simply wrapped then around each other until I got the circle size I wanted.  I added a little wooden heart and wood house to signify home and heart.

My other card is retro in style . I used the new script background with gorgeous Parisian wording.  I stamped it onto my painted dress form lightly and distressed it a bit.  I also used it as my background paper a bit for detail.  I of course used more jellie dots for the necklace.  I layered my dress form with an old vintage sewing elastic card with the perfect blue and pink retro colors.  Hope you have enjoyed and are inspired to make your mama something special.  hugs, cherry

Today was something else....Monday of all days.  Woke up to a fierce migraine and finally broke down and took an imitrex which I hate to take if I don't need too.  I had things to do in town....looked out the window and it was literally a snow storm.  SAY WHAT? on April 15th rofl.   Sooo I went back to bed ...decided the next time I peek my head out all would be better.  Kinda a second chance at starting the day, lol. 
                                                 Anyways... I do have  a sweet challenge for you from over at RRR that you will want to join in on.  Mothers day theme with ribbon.   Always enjoy creating with Mom in mind brings memories of home, heart, safeness.  I decided to create a pincushion from some of my stash of fabric.  It is a "mother birds egg nest".  I used the faux burlap ribbon wrapped around the pincushion.  I also used it as part of my nest layered in some vintage lace ribbons.  I added a bit of burlap snippet over the burlap ribbon and added my eggs and pearl stamens.  I also used two different ribbons for the pincushion to hang from.  I used soapstone seam binding and faux canvas ribbon in natural.   I embellished with a large metal key and a stamped mothers day tag.  I pinned a few stick pins using spools and little snippets of lace.  Last I added vintage mother of pearl buttons and tea stained lace using the Arabella crochet lace in white.  Had fun getting to use so many ribbons on this.  Hope you join in the challenge.  Mothers day is just around the corner!  night, night, cherry

Well now how are ya?   I am excited to share another fun blog hop with RRR sharing their new monthly club ribbons for April.  You should have made your way from Gloria's blog.  This month's ribbons are a Springy blend of blues and apple greens.  I challenged myself to keep it simple this time around and made a little mini card set with matching tag.  I used two patterns, stamps, embossing folder, and my ribbons.  I grabbed an oldie but goodie PTI stamp set and created a couple of topiaries and used the ribbons for my flower part.  I ran them through my diecutter with an embossing folder for a little more interest.  I created a little tag and than wrapped them up with the sweet two color combo grosgrain.  Kinda cute I think.  Simple and fun.  Well that is it for me...you next visit is to Heather.   Have fun!   hugs, cherry

Happy TGIF!  I have a couple of cards for you made for RRR...both different but both about creating with your hands.  Sewing, crocheting, making things from the heart.   They both remind me of my Mother....and so they both became Mother's day cards.  She crochets afghans and use to sew my doll clothes for me.  I used a mix of goodies and combined my RRR ribbons with a bit of very old lace snippets.  The Carolina white crochet lace works so well with antique laces.  I have been using it a lot lately and love its sweet nostalgic look.  I also added some gorgeous glass/shell buttons I found of late.  There is nothing like them.  I of course had to add my seam bindings.  I inked the edges a bit for wear and aging.  I used baby pink and lace blue.  Just a couple of good ole fashion cards.  I hope you all have a lovely weekend.   hugs, cherry

If friends were flowers...

 

Wednesday already?  April 10th already??  Don't know what to make of that.  Wanted to share a card I am sharing over at The Rubber Café today.  I have always loved this sentiment and wanted it to be center stage.  I stamped it onto a Jenni Bowlin diecut  and than embellished around it using a sweet vintage dresdan image of a little girl picking flowers of course.  I thought this image was so perfect for the saying.  I added a sweet handmade felt and fabric bloom I made from vintage swiss dot fabric.  I used a pearl jellie dot for the center.  I added some whimsical clouds and buttons and ribbons for softness.  Love the red..my fave color.  Just makes me happy..hope it does you too!  hugs, cherry

Vintage Birthday

 

Hello to you!  Happy Monday! I will keep this short and sweet...I got baking on the mind.  It started snowing here of all things and I feel the need to bake me up some cookies.  chocolate chip to be exact.  I am popping in to share a fun birthday card using some VSM goodies.   I started with my background papers which are Crate Paper's Pretty party and some gorgeous vintage sheet music.  I had to add a pantry staple bingo card  of course.   From there I added some fun quirky little details like pom pom fringe, a Making Memories stamp finding, , and a bit of aqua tinsel  on my cake.   What do you think..festive?  I think so!  Hope you enjoyed and have a wonderful start to your week.  hugs, cherry

farm girl friday

       Hi there and happy weekend!  Popping in with a Riddersholm Designs Farm Girl Friday creation!  Connie's challenge for the Design Team this month was - use your favorite (NOT) scrapbbooking accessory, could be something recycling. It has to be spring and light colors.

                            I decided to recycle a vintage crochet doily and turn it into a pincushion.  I really enjoyed making this.  I sewed a pocket for the inside using quilt batting.  I embellished it with a handmade nest and a resin bird from the store.  I also added a few other cabochons and tags from the Huntington Gardens collection.   I had to make a few homemade stick pins as well.  Love adding my own little unique touches.  I think this would make a beautiful mother's day gift.  What do you think?  Make sure to check out the other creations...they are beautiful!  hugs, cherry

 

 

 

 

 

 

Darling baby girl...

Happy Wednesday my friends!  Cherry here to share a sweet baby album made for RRR.  Every time I do a mini album I always wonder why I don't do more of them because I enjoy doing them so much!  They do take longer than some altered projects or cards but I always feel such a sense of accomplishment when done.  I started with a nice sturdy chipboard base that I painted cream and distressed.  I than picked my papers and alternated them every other page mixing and matching.  I stuck to around 4-5 patterns and repeated them for continuity.   I started by embellishing the front page with my goodies.  I added sweet details like the little stars, buttons, and mini diecuts for interest.  The inside I heavily embellished each page to the right keeping my baby theme.  The left side pages I added vellum envelopes to tuck memories and lockets of baby's hair.  Or any keepsake Mama might want to tuck away.  There is also room for pictures of the wee one. I added Carolina white crochet lace at the bottom of each page.  Once done I assembled my pages together and it was ready for the cherry on the top!  All the sassy ribbons that I tied onto the rings.  This is the fun part I think.  I love tying on the ribbons and adding little trinkets and sentiments in between. I added pink safety pins with stacked buttons, baby blocks,  little hearts,  and a flash card. I used pink grosgrain in circus dots,  pink chevron grosgrain, satin with scalloped edge in pink, and Diamond satin in pearl pink.  This is a great way to use up shorter snippets of ribbons.  Well that is about it.  Except I had to share my buddy Bailey wearing my work.  He tries to help out ...more like steal my goodies.
