A Little Spring for Sale

Spring birdy with skeleton key for wing 13.00 includes pack. and shipping SOLD

30.00 includes pack & shipping SOLD

26.00 includes pack & shipping SOLD
You know me and paper... we can't live with out each other for long. I decided to make a few items and put them up for sale here. I LOVE to make banners...and a girl can only have so many in her own home. All three projects hearken towards Spring but the birdy plaque and nest banner could be left out all year long. Sooo if you want to add a bit of Spring time to your decor...this might be the ticket. The NEST banner is all in reds/blacks w/ polka dot ribbon and measures over 40" with ribbon. The SPRING banner has blues, pinks, & creams with vintage German sheet music as a background. There are flowers and vintage buttons on it as well. It measures over 50". They both have scallops on the edges and as I do with all my paper projects I use quality chipboard on the back so the papers do not wrinkle or crinkle. The birdy plaque is on a scallop flower and has a skeleton key for a wing and a pink polka dot background and hangs from vintage crochet ribbon. I always plan to make more items and put them in my etsy shop..but never get around to it. I can't seem to resize my photos right and need some type of photo shop software to do it. So if you are interested just convoy me by email. I also do custom orders so email me with any questions.
I also wanted to share a cake stand I made. I bought two of these odd finial type thingies at a church garage sale for .75 and finally used one of them(had them for several years). I cut the finial down to make a flat surface. I found the wooden circle at Goodwill last week and decided to cover it with vintage inspired papers. I used a scallop for the edges and inked and painted and now it makes a whimsical plate stand. Well that is it for me today. Happpppppy Tuesday! XOXO, Cherry

RED

Whether it is because my namesakes (the fruit known as the Cherry, some of you have wondered if that is my real name) body color is red or not...my fave color is indeed red. To wear or to bedeck the house with. So true to form....yesterday.. when I had made the "just for fancy sake" decision to buy myself some tulips. The red won out. My eyes did wander to pure white...but my heart said RED. It made the decision even sweeter with a Fred Meyer coupon for 2.00 off a floral bunch. This is the first time in my adult life that I have "bought" real flowers of any kind. I must say..it could become a habit. They make me smile. Especially in my new white pitcher. I would say 2.00 for tulips that make you smile every time you walk by is worth the investment. Wouldn't you?
Anyway on with the red....I snapped a few pics of red here and there. The first pics are of window treatments I did quite awhile back. I don't remember if I ever shared them with you??? I lined the valances so I could change them from floral/ticking. The drapes were made from chocolate and wheat colored burlap and I mixed the floral with it. The floral was originally a Target tablecloth. I have a whole roll of burlap in the living room to make more drapes with it. We will see when that happens. Don't hold your breath. At least we have privacy in the kitchen area.
Now the clock was white, and I decided to paint it red...I did a peekaboo green inside and antiqued it a bit. I think it tells better time painted red. Pretty darn sure. Sooooo there you go....my love affair with red. I of course threw in the can of Coca Cola...after all it is red too...and my love for it runs deep as well. Happy Weekend to all. XOXO, Cherry

Edited: Paint party ovaaaaaaaaaaa Hereeeeee! http://neweveryam.blogspot.com/

Back in the Saddle Again..

Soooo errrr here I am....still alive and kickin. Been uber busy AND oh so UBER sick....me with migraines and the males in my family had that lovely nose cold going around.....God Bless Yous...ran rampant. Good news in the Nelson household though....dh has gone back to work...at least for the time being. I HATE to jinks us and say indef. because with this tempermental economy..one just never knows. Thank-you to those that had us in your prayers!

So with the dynamics of the house changing yet again....me here ALONE.....I have found myself falling ever so sweetly back into my domestic responsibilities. While singing...zippity do daaaa....ixnay that part! I am actually getting things done though! Go Figure. Cleaning and projects. My son's room is coming along nicely. I have had some monumental Mommy guilt over his room. You see I had started it about hmmm. two years ago...went all out with painting...bought some furniture...but never finished because...I did not want to admit that I never liked the painting I did to his walls (which took a lot of work)...so it stood at a stand still. Well I took the bulls by the horns ladies. I ordered him a new bed and got some bedding today...AND I painted the walls. Checkity check check! His room emotionally, was a drainer for me, everytime I went in it. I felt At this rate...it wouldn't get done till he was gone and in college. We got rid of a bunch of things as well....which of course took me down memory lane. A few tears were shed....packing away teddy bears etc. but all is looking peachy. We still have baby tiger..he has to sleep with him and our beloved star wars. GOOOO Obi Wan Kenobi! I LOVE walking in there now...and more importantly ds is diggin his new digs.
I have many things to share..but for now..just a few pics of some rearranging. A little more Spring filtering in...although we have blizzard conditions at the moment. I wanted to share a "Believe" sign I got from a DEAR friend awhile back for my birthday. The little ceramic birdy is new from Target as is the clearance black clock (shhh don't tell anyone but she does not work...I am keeping her for her looks). NOT practical but pretty. I am a dork. The black shelf was in the hallway where the little black table is now.. that I shared last. I wanted a new look and moved it here in the entryway. I love to collect old white pottery. So simple but graphic to me. Just like many of you I ADORE typograpy....numbers, alphas...does not matter. I threw a bunch of my N's in a basket and liked it all willy nilly. The big N.....she broke...by the hand of the NOT so dh at the time. I glued it back and put this blessing ribbon in the fracture. I think that will be it for tonight So for those that emailed me asking if I was alive....Yep still here...can't get rid of me that easy...Ohhhh Andrea http://andreaw123.typepad.com/my_weblog/.....I posted...giggle. XoXo,

A Corner Revisited

Some of you may remember this corner of my home with this old garage sale table. I had painted it this past Summer (last Summer seems eons ago), black. Well no news flash...she is still black. Like many of you I get the urge to change things up a bit. This time of year can be soo dreary in this part of the country. I needed something a little more Springy. I have had this cute little white shelf thingy (for lack of a better word) I got at a garage sale. I didn't know where to put her. I decided to take down the wall shelf that had been above the little table and paint the white shelf thingy (anyone have a better term for it?) to mesh better with the table. So out came my little bottle of acrylic paint and she became black as well. Now they are harmonious and make quite a pair! I got out some of my birdies....they may be making their debut a bit early..but who cares. I displayed a skeleton key on a ball of twine, set out some of my fave old books, (the top one was my great-grandmother's book), out came my silly little bee skein and she is good to go! Now this corner makes me smile and takes a way a bit of the Winter duldrums! Take that old man Winter! XOXO, cherry
