Sweet treats....

September has come and will be gone before we know it....so now is the time to start creating up a storm for Fall and Halloween.   I had fun sorting through my Really Reasonable Ribbon and knew I had to play with the new mini pom pom trim .  It is soooo cute!  I made a set of two mini lollipop pockets and adorned them with the pom pom and sticker borders.  I used some old looking images and a few little toppings.  I also used orange seambindings  to add some fullness to each pocket.  I couldn't leave the lollipops plain jane so I added a bit of two tone textured ribbon in the orange with a bit of
black jute wound through the little stamped tags.  It made the lollipops a little more special!
I couldn't stop there though...you know me and halloween.  I decided to also make a plaque.  I fell in love with this pumpkin and created a rosette using my scor-pal. to set the pumpkin on top.  I love making rosettes using the scor-pal ...they turn out perfect everytime.  I used seam bindings again...this time using black and orange but I threw some of my orange into a vat of tea and let it sit overnight.  It came out darker and richer.  It is fun sometimes to alter your ribbons. I Love the outcome and will be doing this again.  So what do you think?  Are you ready to bring the Fall  on?   Lol...hope you have enjoyed! Happy September! hugs, cherry

Back to School Theme with RRR

Well........it is September 1st, which means it is time for a fun challenge over at Really Reasonable Ribbon.  This time it is a "back to school theme with ribbon".   I hate to admit it but I can feel a bit of a chill in the air..especially at night.  It is definantly time to start thinking about the new school year, books, new clothes....the list goes on.  Although I hate to see Summer go I love to create for this time of year.  I decided to do a teacher thank-you with old fashion charm.  I used red and cream seambindings and a bit of Penelope crochet lace at the bottom of my card.  Remember you have a chance to win a prize if your creation is picked for the challenge.  It must have ribbon on it and it can be any type of project you want.  Make sure to check out the RRR blog for more inspiration from the other gals playing along!   Happy labor day to you all!  hugs, cherry

They're creepy and they're spooky

For some reason I have the Addam's Family in my head....I wonder why?   Maybe because I can't stop creating for Halloween.  Not even if my life depended on it.  I LOVE to create for the holidays...all of them.  Each time a holiday rolls around I think THIS IS MY FAVORITE one...and than the next comes and I change my mind again. For now it is Halloween that has me happy. We will keep it at that for now.
So  I thought I would share just a few of the things I have been making.  A halloween pocket ..why of course.  Full of delightful little goodies...I like to think each tag tells it's own little story.  Halloween brings out the imagination in us all.  I really think that is why it is so fun to create for it.  As always I had fun stuffin the pocket...letting them peek over the edge.  I also made a stamped card.  I recently got some stamps  from Wplus9.  I paired them with my mason jar.  Love the outcome.  Mixing and matching stamps makes their uses go so much farther.  Sorry for the lighting , it is still a bit smoky here.   It is getting better , thank-goodnes!  Well that is it for me....I have been organizing my craft room.  As always thank-you for visiting me.  hugs, cherry

New Release Blog Hop with The Rubber Cafe...

Oh boy howdy am I behind.   The last couple of days have been horrible for me .  We have fires in the surrounding areas and I am allergic to it.  It looks like we live in LA.  Sooo happy though that I was able to get in a fun project using the new releases from The Rubber Cafe.
We are celebrating our new release called On the Fence! This set comes with a new exclusive The Rubber Café die template manufactured by Spellbinders Paper Arts called On the Fence Die!

Today is day #3 I am blog hopping with   Michelle so go check out her fab creations! If you want to start from the beginning just simply go back to the the rubber Cafe blog.   I decided to go all wintery with my card....I embossed the fence and the window and fussy cut everything out.  I also drew a very light circle and  used the mini ivy and created a christmas wreath for the window.  I added some holly berry red jellie dots to the wreath as well.  I broke out my faux snow to add to the whole scene..so  much fun to work with.  Last but not least I added the merry christmas in bold sentiment.  Hope you enjoy!  hugs,c herry

bow tutorial

Hello there! I thought I would pop in for RRR to share how I tie my seambinding bows. Now I am no where near a perfect bowtier....is there such a thing and is there such a word, lol? I always want to mess around with them. Bows can be such tempermental little things. With out them though my cards seem so sad so I almost always add them. Ribbon is essential to me and adds much needed softness to a card. So today I have a spooky little project. I have been having a blast making Halloween goodies so today's card is just that. I made my card and scored it and added my pattern papers. Of course than I started to pile on my goodies. Little bit of stamping, fun cackling witch, and a diecut sticker.
I grabbed my yummy black seambinding and crumpled it up. I use a lightly wet paper towel and crickle it up in it. Works well and fast. Now with my seambindings sometimes I wrap it all the way around the card but often times I don't. It just ends up getting covered with embellishments anyways. I don't tie bows so it is all one piece. I make separate bows and "piggy back" them onto each other till they look full to me. As you can see in the pics I tie one and adhere and than add the next alternating the direction of each bow. The last one I tied my sentiment tag with twine to it and than adhered. My way might be a bit diffrent but it works for me. OHHH and don't pay attention to my messy desk! Hope you enjoyed! cherry

My Buddy Mr. Bones

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh don't tell but Mr. Bones (that is what I dubbed him) is my new crush from The Rubber Cafe. His formal name is You shake my Bones and he is so much fun to play with! I layered him with the ever versatile bingo card stamp for a fun vintage look. I started with a plain white bakers bag and just gussied it up a bit with some paper diecuts. I used scallop circles and the standard circles to layer on top of the stamped bingo card. I also used a doily for a little more interest. Added some tails to the bottom and some glittered up buttons on either side. The top has some fun chunky gingham ribbon and seambinding with a layered button and rhinestone. I added a cute little sentiment banner tag as well. Now Mr. Bones was fun because I used Melissa's technique using the scrap happy glue to apply the glitter. Scrap Happy glue it an excellent medium for this because it remains tacky. You simply dab a bit out on a scrap piece of paper and apply onto your stamp using a foam brush. Stamp the image on the area you want and wait a few seconds ( I didn't wait very long because it is humid today) and than sprinkle your glitter on. Remove the excess and your done! The glitter stays in place. Make sure though to instantly clean your stamp and get the glue off. I just had a small bowl of suds sitting near me to throw the stamp into. And That is that! I than just added a few jellie dots in black soot to spiff Mr. Bones up a bit. I can't wait to try this again! It works perfect for detailed images.......I am in heaven with this technique. Can't wait to use if for Christmas. Hope you enjoyed! Now I have the perfect little bag for candy for someone special! hugs, cherry

A little creepy and a little cute....

This blog has been a little desolate lately....we have been home and gone...home again and gone again...but now staying put.  Camping took a lot out of me and I am still trying to recuperate.   To top that off...we are on the count down to when school starts (tell me it ain't so) and football practice (I might as well stay in the car 24 seven) is every day for 3 hrs....argh.  I personally am not ready to see Summer vanish....but love, love, love to create and decorate for the fall.  I caught a little time in between more critical duties and had some fun making spooky cards.  Nothing that had to be done...just something I enjoyed doing for me.  Three diffrent looks.....some glitter, some more cute, one a little more sophisticated.   I loved that image of the little girl and puppy with blues...a little diffrent for Halloween.  I liked the combination.  I think it would be pretty for Fall too.  Well hope you have not all left me....please come visit me..still here...kinda.  lol.   I am off to shuffle my boy to practice.   Hope you enjoy!  Tomorrow is a post for The Rubber Cafe introducing Mr. Bones.     hugs, cherry
