friday fun

It is Friday...are you glad?  It is also the 15th which means RRR is having another fun challenge...this time flowers with ribbon.  I decided to join in.  I can never resist a bloom.  I thought I would do a quick little tutorial for you showing my flower layers and how I went about decking my bag out.  The middle layer of the flower is a technique I have posted before where you simply roll and twist the flower.  You can make them small or humongous if you like.  I used the red polka dot double ruffle ribbon which manipulated really well.   Very easy to use and made a nice full bloom.  I layered it with some vintage swiss dot fabric I diecut flowers from.
Once I had my bloom ready the fun part of gussying up my bag began.  I used some cottagey floral papers and washi tape.  I had a bit of crepe paper fringe left and used it.  From there I adhered my bloom using hot glue and than went about stamping my mason jar tag.  I had fun revisiting this stamp set from Pti.  It is one of my favorites.  I also used an older mini stamp set from Maya road.   Once I had it adhered I topped it off with some red seam binding and cherry bakers twine .   I love the color combo....my favorite.  My bedroom has a lot of this and I never tire of it.  Well I am off to spend time with my son.   I get him to myself today and I think we will go do something simple but ...maybe ice cream and book hunting?  Hope you enjoy!  Happy weekend!  Cherry

RRR blog hop

Today is full of fun...we are blog hopping with RRR to showcase the monthly ribbon club assortment Sweet Pickle  & doing a bit of early cross promotion with Peachy Keen stamps .  You should have found your way here from Ms. Gloria's   scrumptious blog.   If you lose your way you can always start at the RRR blog link up above.   I chose to work with a cherry on top stamp set for this card.  It worked perfectly with my PTI cupcake diecut and the sweet pink ribbons in the monthly ribbon club assortment.  I shabbied my cupcake up by glittering "the heck" out of it!  I added the cute cupcake topping and candle from the stamp set and fussy cut them out.  Added a bit of vintage crepe paper fringe, the lace from the kit, and the cute homemade sentiment banners and I was done!  What do you think?  Kinda cute!  Your next stop on the hop is Ms. Heather's fantabulous blog. Have fun!  hugs, cherry

Happy B DAY!

Sunshine weather.....straight ahead!  We have only a small baby patch of ice left on our back patio.  It will be sorely missed by our black lab Riley (he loves to roll in it after playing fetch).  I have a card today for RRR that reminds me of sunshine...gingham, bees, and just plain cheerful.  I used the 3/8 red gingham ....fell in love with it.  Perfect red.  I decided to have fun and dressed up my envelope as well.  I am often guilty of leaving it plain and many of my cards are just plain to thick for an envelope.   It is so much fun though and makes it more special.  It is a great way to use those little snippets of ribbon you don't want to throw away too.  I used just a "tail" for my envelope and think it looks cute.  I think I will be doing this more often!  Hope you enjoy and Happy spring!  hugs, cherry

Easter egg banner

Hello and happy Wednesday to you.  I popped in to share a canvas banner I made using a few fun Rubber Cafe    goodies.   I started with a canvas album I had and inked it up real good for an aged look.  I used Tim Holtz    distress ink.   I added some beautiful digital pics and layered them with eggs made from Spellbinders oval dies.  I painted them silver and than gave them a heavy dosing of Your so fine silver medal glitter  .    I layered the scallop bottom with some handmade paper fringe I made on my sewing machine.  I had to have an Easter greeting of course..so I used the sweet Easter Greetings stamp.  I created little banners for each sentiment using a spellbinders banner set.  I wound some ribbons through and added vintage style glittered clothespins and it is ready to hang.  You could use any chipboard album or even cut your own pieces using left over cereal boxes.  Hope you enjoy!  thanks for letting me share, cherry

Just because

Happy lazy Sunday (I hope).  We are finishing up a bathroom project.  Tile.  Feels good to mark off something on our to do list.  I have a couple of nature inspired card creations today made with RRR ribbons.   My first card is a collage of sorts....the color inspired by the wired chevron ribbon that is new to the store.  Beautiful neutral.  So fun to manipulate since it has wire.  I used it on both of my cards.   My first reminds me of the collage cubbies I have seen...each with its own treasure inside.  I used a feather and a sweet nest.  I also used a bit of Sophia ribbon at the bottom.  The other card along the same style but more deliberate.   I used some of the Melina lace I tea stained.   Love natural textural items, things that you want to touch.   I used a wood doily I painted and inked a bit and made it into a flower of sorts.  Well that is it for me...my oven timer is about to go off...I have applesauce bread baking.  YUM.  Late night baking.   Thanks for letting me share!  hugs, cherry

CupCards to Go!

Ok....three posts in one day?   That is a first for me!  Lots happening today.....and this evening.  It is 6:00 and that means there is a new Cup Cards to Go kit up and ready! It is called  Flutterby.
I am so excited to share my creations I made with the kit.   I felt so bad...last months kit sold out so fast.  I wanted to share but that is when I was having a lovely old time with my old lap top.  May it rest in peace.  I have plenty to share this time around.  My first two projects are bonus Ruby Rocket postcards and matching envelopes.  I had so much fun dressing them and the envelopes up.  Wouldn't they be sweet for a little mothers day card?   The rest are full of Spring cheer!  HOpe you enjoy!  cherry

Double challenges today!

Hey there!   I have two challenges for you today.  Feeling crafty?    First off....is the March 1st. challenge over at RRR .   Show me the green...with ribbon.   I went all Irish up in here.  I was having so much fun I made two cards.  I used white seam binding that I colored with spring moss ink and Louise lace  that I tea stained.  Just a bit of shamrock love.   Make sure to check out the other team members creations.  Also RRR is having a design team search.  More details on that on the RRR blog.  RRR is one of the best teams out there!    Now...if you scroll down............I have another challenge to share.

I was asked by my pal Meredith to guest over at the Festive Friday blog  for this weeks challenge.   In case you are not familiar with Festive Friday...they have a new Christmas card challenge every two weeks.  So by the time Christmas rolls around you are good to go on your card making.  Neat idea huh!   The challenge will run until March 13 and  players who join in the majority of their challenges will be eligible for a year-end prize.
See that beautiful pic up above...your challenge is to incorporate a snowflake into your creation.  I usually am not very literal with challenges but I really stayed true to my design.  I kept it simple..and was attracted to the sepia tone in the image. Of course I added a big ole hurkin snowflake.  Couldn't stay away from the glitter.   Hope you like and you get inspired by all the inspiration.  Go check out the blog.  Well...I am out of here...off to town I go!  hugs, cherry
