Guesting for Alpha Stamps

              Hello!  Wasn't the blog hop fun?   It is always incredible to me how diffrent everyone's take is on something.   Today I have some projects to share using some absolutely beautiful goodies from Alpha Stamps   I was asked to guest design for them during the month of May.   Sorry for all the photos but I just simply could not put down this kit.  It is a beach theme kit full of nostalgic images of bathing beauties and the boardwalks of the past.  Gorgeous colors and the sweetest little trinkets.  I think that is what really draws me to Alpha Stamps....I am not just saying this either...they truly have some unique things.   If you are looking for something unusual for your altered art, scrapbooking, or cards I am pretty darn sure you will find it there.  I visited over there today and I saw too that they are doing a give-away of one of the kits...so head on over!  We were challenged to create two postcards for a "wish you were here" beach theme.   We were to decorate both sides of the postcards.  I decided to create pocket cards and insert my postcards into the front of the cards.  I had so much fun I created three of those!  I also made a sweet little card and of course a pocket set with two more cards tucked inside.   I had a ball working with everything and hope you enjoy....perfect timing with Summer hitting.   You can also read up on me a bit if you care too here...I am a bit dorky but I mean well!  Thanks to you all for coming by!  hugs, cherry

Ready to do some hopping?

                    Hello there...I know your week had to have been better than mine.   I have had major computer issues....which I think now have been rectified...crossing fingers.  It took three days of hanging at home waiting for a tech guy who never showed.  YEP, he never showed.  Than I find out really I needed a new modem this whole time anyway and it would have not done any good to have the man come out, grrrr.  So today I traveled to the big town and bought  a new modem.  I feel so behind with things...but am so glad I made it in time to be a part of the blog hop at Really Reasonable Ribbons .   If you want to start at RRR just click here.   If you are following the blog in order than you should have come from Gloria's beautiful blog.  I have a cute card for you using the gorgeous May ribbon club assortment.  The black really stood out for me and I just gravitated towards it.  I think it is so classic.  I made a couple of ribbon blooms with the solid black and paired them with some antique rhinestone buttons  I was lucky to have found this week.  I used some toile paper from Prima that worked perfectly and added the sheer solid black combo ribbon as my bow.   I built on my sentiment by adding the old fashion vanilla extract label along with the sweet flash card than stamped the rest of the sentiment inside.  Love to add a little something to the inside sometimes.  Well that is it for me....the next stop in the blog hop is Emily's lovely blog.  Soo much inspiration out there, can't wait to make my rounds!  Have fun and thanks for stopping by!  hugs, cherry

Old fashion goodies..

                                Hi there ....popping in to share a few goodies.   Is there anyone out there...I am thinking maybe I should close up my blog.  I am sure many of you are playing out in the sunshine.    I have a few things I have created lately.  The first is a sweet custom piece I made for a customer.  New grand baby coming along and it was made for the nursery.  I love the way it turned out..and hope it will grace a little niche somewhere very soon!  The other goodies are just some cards made with some digital goodies and some lovely new embellishments from Pro 31 Designs.  The mulberry style roses, beadings, and rhinestone buckle are from Esmeralda's store.  Lots of fun and unique treasures to be found.  I was asked to play with some of her goodies..and had a ball doing so.  I will have a few other things created using her toppings.  Hope you enjoy!  hugs, cherry

Old and shabby

                               Happy Monday....are you tired of me yet??? Hope not! I have a little something to share again....I have found new TRC favorites ...yeah yeah I know I say that everytime. This time I have fallen head over heals in love with the old key stamp, Queens post, and the Vaticane post stamps. They speak to my vintage lovin heart. I also used the card labels stamp set and love it....can't wait to play more with this set...so many possibilities with it. These cards are very simple to make....I used up some paper scraps using my scrap happy glue and than stitched around each card...purposely doing it uneven for a shabby look. I adhered some tea stained envelopes I had in my stash...I love to use these from time to time....fun to stamp and add details too. If you look closely at the horizontal card you will get a sneak peek at one of The Rubber Cafe's new stamp sets....teeee heeee! See those sweet little posies at the bottom??? Yep...and the distressed corner of the envelope....another one. Some new lovelies for sure!

                           I used the card labels stamps and stamped them in chocolate and cut them out...I used them a little unusually by using them like tickets. I used them on the edges of the card and envelope. I stamped the postage stamps and skeleton key on pattern paper and than fussy cut them out and used them as embellishments on the envelopes....I also used a bit of my crickle ribbons ( I colored some cream colored seambinding with Tim Holtz distress stain ink in Victorian velvet ) and than hand crickled it. I love love this color....gorgeous rosey pink. I also added a few stick pins and some gorgeous crochet lace from Really Reasonable ribbon and topped it off with a few roses. The sentiments I used are the Fabulous phrases. lovely font and fits so many occasions. Well that is that.....just a couple of goodies. Old and shabby .. my favorite. Hope you enjoy  hugs, cherry

Craft worthy...

Hi there and happy Thursday!  I am so excited to be posting here at RRR for the first time!  I decided to create a sweet sewing pocket using several of my favorite Really Reasonable Ribbons.  I started with a manilla folder.  I cut it down to the size I wanted..approximately 5 x7.  I covered it in some fun papers and added a little stamping detail at the top.  I added some yummy allison crochet lace to the bottom.  Next I added a few toppings like a doily, chipboard painted dress form, chipboard letters spelling sew, buttons, and a Prima flower.   To the dress form I added some beading for a necklace and some sweet Beatrice white crochet lace to the bottom of  the skirt.  I topped the pocket off with some gorgeous silky crush rose ribbon by May Arts.  This ribbon is beautiful and makes the best bows.   I also nestled a little wooden spool wrapped with more Beatrice crochet lace to the inside of my bow for fun, along with a stick pin.   It was than time to make tags....I collected things with a craft and sewing theme and just had fun layering with my embellishments and papers.  I carried more of the crochet lace onto my tags using the Penelope lace in natural on several tags.  I topped all of them off with some seambinding in pink that I grunged up.  I used some Tim Holtz ink to shabby it up a bit and hand crickled it.  After that I just nestled all my goodies in the pocket.  This would make a great gift for a sewing lover or a great idea for Mother's day.   Hope you enjoyed!  Thanks for letting me share.  hugs, cherry

Really Reasonable Ribbon Mother's day/Feminine challenge

Hellllllo there! Cherry here for my FIRST EVER post for Really Reasonable Ribbon. So excited to be here and sharing a little something. This week our challenge is to create something in honor of Mother's Day, which is fast approaching. It must be something with a feminine theme. Which is one of my favorite styles...being that shabby and vintage fall right into that catagory. I went to work creating a frilly little number. I adhered my papers and diecuts inking the edges for an aged appearance. I stamped a sweet sentiment banner perfect for Mom using The Rubber Cafe's Give Momma Some Love stamp set and adhered it. I than added some lovely old fashion Beatrice crochet lace in white to the bottom with a vintage button. From there I was ready to make my own homemade bloom. I crumpled a paper doily first and than took a round crochet doily and folded it in half and than folded it again and hot glued it into the paper doily. I than added some tea stained linen fabric and diecut a flower and glued that into the middle. I topped it off with an old button. Time for ribbons! I decided to use some of the May Arts wrinkle ribbons. I LOVE them.

I used wrinkle ribbons in white in the 1/2 inch size. I wanted the ribbon to be a bit worn looking so I took my ink pad to it a bit running it across the ribbon here and there. I LOVE the texture of the wrinkle ribbons they remind me a bit of Dupioni silk...like a wedding dress. YUM! I also used used some of the light blue seambinding combining it with the wrinkle ribbons for a shabby eclectic look. I love to combine ribbons together for softness and added texture. I sprayed the seambinding with some glimmer spray in lettuce and also inked it up with some brown ink to age it. I than "stressed it out" a bit and crumpled it up before nestling it in with the wrinkle ribbon...and that is that! Hope you enjoyed my first post for RRR! Don't forget your Mama this Mother's Day!

Give Momma some Love..........

Happppppppppppppppy day to you...Cherry Here for TRC today. Mother's day is just around the corner and so I thought I would focus on a little something something for the sweet Mom's in our lives. Of course a card is always nice but I thought I would create a companion piece to go along with my card. I got out my coveted TRC stamps....I used Be Stylish and give Momma some love. I also of course made sure my Scrap Happy glue was by my side. It is my security blanket...lol..it rarely leaves my side. I started with the card. I wanted to see if I could create a text style background with one of the sentiments in the "give momma some love" set...I stamped it on the top part of my cardstock staggering it a bit. I didn't worry about perfection because I knew that most of it would be covered up. I loved the font to this set , so old fashion and feminine . I added my papers to the bottom half of the card and my scroll diecut and than stitched around the edges. I inked the edges for an aged appearance as well. After that I used a scrap piece of cardstock and stamped my main sentiment and adhered it with my scraphappy glue and a button. I than went to work layering and creating my bloom.....if you look you will see that I created text onto some canvas using the "give Momma some love" stamp as well to keep with the theming. I used old lace and canvas as the base along with a vintage button. I used hot glue so that it would adhere very quickly. Other than that some homemade stick pins and crickle ribbon. Now with the the companion piece I made a "mini pincushion" of sorts using the "Be Stylish" corset. I stamped it on to some canvas I tea stained and cut it out. I stamped two images. I than layered them together and stitched around almost completely and left room to stuff just a smidgeon of fiber fill inside to puff it up. I created a base using Spellbinders Labels eight diecut. I used the largest one in the set. I covered it with my papers. Used a diecut paper frame to frame the "mannequin" out. I had a chipboard pole left from another project and used it along with the corset to create a dress form with it. I also used some vintage laces, crickle ribbons, buttons, homemade posy, and a couple little stick pins from my own stash. I had so much fun stamping onto fabric and must remember to try it again! I think this will make an adorable little gift for a fellow Mom, friend, or for your own Momma! Hope you enjoyed and thanks for letting me share! hugs, cherry
