It is 3:00...and the high is 10! PIC HEAVY

It is not fit for man or beast in our parts today. They cancelled school as well. Apparently the weather has gotten us confused with the NORTH POLE! It was negative 24 degrees this morning...and that is NO JOKE. I wish I could say I did not have to leave the house today..but I did...we were out of milk and other staples. Since Santa is my neighbor now....I thought I had better snap some pics of the holly jollyiness around here. I really went simple this year....I was just not up to any over the top decorating. The older I get the more I think about putting it all back in totes..and what a job it is. SIGH. Me being someone who LOVES Christmas...and already thinking about the future work involved. Did I just say that out loud??? Well anyways...on with the pics....I had to use my little point and shoot Canon so the pics are not the best...soooo bear with me! I have penny pinched and saved and so we made a pilgrimage 4 hours away to our "LOCAL" Ikea...and I bought the Ektorp Svanby beige sectional and a chair. I hope to make one more trip and get another chair to flank our fireplace. I have been happy so far with them...although the beige is def. MORE white looking to me. It will def. be getting washed a lot in this family (TWO black animals, two men folk, ). I got in on the FREE white slipcovers as well...which I am almost scared to use. I have heard so many (mostly in mags) say oh we just throw them in the washing machine and we are good to go...little bleach.....lets hope that is the case. I sure do LOVE the look though.. ...YUMMMMY. My birthday is coming up as well so I fanagled a new glass sofa console out of my dh. Looks nice behind the sectional I think. Well I hope to take part two pics soon.....the lighting is so terrible in this home. Is there a better/faster way to download pics and enlarge them other than in edit html? I might actually post more if I could take less time downloading all of this.
Other than that if you have time please take a peek at my etsy store...I have several items left that I would be thrilled to find a new home for! Convoy me for custom orders. THanks so much folks.....pray for warmer weather here....it really is bitterly cold. Hugs to u all. xoxo, cherry

Love all you Santas. I'm feeling about the same as you. I haven't put up the first decoration yet...it makes me tired to think about it! I could use a few elves. Stay warm. We're having snow, sleet, thundersnow, a blizzard warning & tomorrow below freezing!

Oh...I forgot to say...if you use Windows, you should try Windows Live Writer. It's free. Oh my gosh, it's no trouble to post & upload your pictures with it!

I loved your post. I feel the same way, I went very simple this year because like you I think about tearing it all down. The older I get, the simpler I am getting. How exciting about your new furniture. I had a cream slipcovered sofa that I just sold to a friend. I liked it, I was just ready for a change. Please show us pics soon. Oh Happy Birthday (early). Stay warm.

Hugs,
LeAnn:)

I think we hit like 29 here in Washington State today,,,and lemme tell you trying to craft/glitter in my basement was a challenge with the aid of only my space heater in this 100yo house!!! Brrrr! My office isn't much better!

When my son was in the Marines, it would hit like 120 in Iraq,,,,he'd say, "well, after it gets over about 105 it doesn't feel that much different at 120....I think this could snap affects us similarly in WA State as your extreme cold! That said, I hope they find some solutions to this "Global Warming" and/or Freezing in Copenhagen!

Your vignettes are wonderful! Im' getting ready for our Historical Parlour tour and the masses coming through my little Bungalow,,,,,,It's a challenge! Why again, (I ask myself did I volunteer to have hundreds come through my little home???)

Stay warm and enjoy!!!

Hi Cherry,
I am so happy to see your awesome house all fixed up for the holidays. (I'd love to see over the top)! I have the Ikea sofa and DO have the white slipcovers, we have 3 kids and a dog and I promise you they come clean in the wash. Just make sure you leave them a little damp when you take them out of the dryer, they tend to shrink up. Lisa

Isn't the weather just CRAZY?! It's ridiculous to have to live in these kinds of freezing temperatures. Good thing we have Christmas to keep our minds of the weather :)

Pictures are great! Thanks for sharing. Love the black/white Santa pillow; is it something that you made or purchased?

Connie said...

Miss Cherry, throw them in the wash, sugar!! I do mine and no problem. Look great even after many washings. Do NOT fear.

You may be picture heavy but they are still gorgeous photos, chickee!! Loved viewing them.

We're in Idaho and I was out in the backyard at 8 am doing a photo shoot in -3° trying to snap photos. Love Bunny just about had a fit! LOL

If you need help, just email me from my side bar. I can help you probably but it's much easier conferring by email than through the blog post, sweetpea.

Hi Cherry, first I wanted to say how adorable your home looks! Now to answer your question about my couches yes I still love my couches and I would say they have washed up pretty good, I soak mine in Biz before I wash them, I don't know if it helps but it can't hurt, I have three boys and three dogs although only one dog goes on the furniture unless I'm not looking! I would love to get the beige slips but I think it might be easier to get the white ones clean you will have to let me know.

Hugs~Kelly

Your Christmas decor looks fantastic, as usual! And I'm with you on less is more, lol. There are some years when I want to do it all and then others (like this year) where I just do a little and I'm a happy girl!
Your new chair looks great! I want to see more! I feel your pain on the pictures. I'll tell you, I about gave up on blogging and posting pictures of any kind on my old computer(it was over 8 yrs, lol) until I got this new one! Much faster and easier now.
Is your email the same? I emailed you and wondered if you had got it. Glad to see you and cant' wait to see MORE of your beautiful house!!!
xoxo
Kristi

I love all the Christmas at your house! I use VSO Image Resizer, you can download it free. When you select the pictures, select the first one, then go to the last one in the file, push the shift key, then right click on the last one, and it should select every picture on the file so it does them all at once. So.....this means we get to see even more pictures lol!

In answer to that pic question. I use the mosiac maker on (www)bighugelabs(dot)com. You can do just two pics side by side, or a whole slew of pictures. I use the layout 'tiles', and I do 1 row with 3 or 4 columns. that lets you have 3-4 pics in a single picture. You upload the pics, press create, and then save to your pictures.

It's an easy way to upload several pics at one time, post them, and keep your blog page shorter.

Hope it helps you.

Oh, girl...I love those vintage Santas, bottle bush trees and candy canes. I'm going to post pics of my old Santa cookie jars, mugs, etc. soon, and if I don't forget to come tell you, I want you to take a look. I've also done a vintage Santa tablescape I think you will like. I'll try to let you know when they post. We probably have some of the same stuff. ;O)

BTW...how do you stand 10 degrees???

Exceptionally beautiful!!! Every single picture should be in a Christmas Country Living Magazine. I just love the work you do. Thanks for taking the time to download the pictures to share with us. I would not want to have missed one of them.

Stay warm.

Cherry, I love your palette. Less is definitely more with me this year too. Someone told me about Live Writer too but I have a Mac so editing HTML is the only way I know. It takes up lots of time. But your pics are worth it. I have slipcovers and couch/ chair from Rowe. They are dry clean only and the dry cleaner shrunk both sets. Wish IKEA had been close when I bought those ridiculously expensive pieces. Yours look great and I too have heard they are super to maintain. (Now that mine have shrunk I throw them in the washer too, can't get any worse and I certainly can't afford new ones) Stay warm, Pam

Well, it may be cold outside, but the inside of your house looks very warm and cozy indeed. I enjoyed looking at each and every one of your beautiful photos. I wish I could help you speed up the photo loading process, but I do it the slow way too.

Oh Brrr...I couldnt take that kind of weather! That's why we moved to Georgia!

All those Santa's are so cute! We have an Ikea couch with the white slipcover but I don't let the dog on it. I'm not sure how much washing those slipcovers can take. I bought extra just in case (they're not expensive).

Good Morning Cherry ~

I know...brrrr, right?! It is kinda cool having Santa as your neighbor...who knew that he lived in Oregon? Your home looks so warm and inviting and I love your holiday vignettes...well done...but I wouldn't expect anything less from someone who lives in Santa's neck~of~the~woods.

Merry Christmas my Friend ~
