The Look of Love....

Sorry random pic...just LOVE buttons..sigh.

Is that title sappy or what? I know Valentine's Day is a big commercial holiday..but I can't help but fall for this sweet celebration just the same. I mean red/white is one of my fave color combos and they are of course perfect shades for amore. Better than that are Valentine crafts...which are just plain fun to make. Reminds me of being back in school with the old Elmers (what about that cement glue...aghast...THAT smell)making Valentines shoe boxes to hold our cards. I wanted to share a little box (a box you say?) that I covered and embellished and a little chipboard frame I made & covered. I put a snippet of bird scrapbook paper in it and hung it from my lamp. The XOXO...was actually XQXQ...I cut the Q's squiggglys off...JoAnns didn't have any O's...no biggy. Well off to make more....I am on a rollllll. Can I say I am looking forward to TRUE BEAUTY tonight....yes I am hopelessly addicted to it. What can I say. Now where did I put that red Martha glitter at????? Night night!
Thank-you soooo much for all your honest replies about my fireplace....much of what you said as been rolling around in my head for some time and it felt good to have you confirm it all! When monies and time allow...I do think it needs some beefing up on the sides.....the mantle always has seemed to float. So glad that I exposed my unloved fireplace finally. rofl.

Cherry, my creative friend!
I am always impressed with your creations! The V-day decor is adorable.
It sounds like you already knew what was bothering you with your mantel. It needs to carry the weight of those beautiful stones. You can add to the sides like they did in this pic http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j87/Natesgram/fpafter.jpg
But I would probably choose to bulk up the size of the mantel itself. The reason the inspiration photo looks good is that the stones taper in, they're a smaller size, and the distance between the mantel and the firebox is shorter. Yours has bigger stones and a big space between the box and mantel. Your mantel needs to hold it's own against all those stones. Super-size it girl!
Make your mantel a little taller and wider so that it has more presence.
My advice would be to take a picture of your fireplace straight on. Run it off on your printer. Then place it on a lightbox or a window. Put a blank piece of paper on top and start drawing different options on top of your picture to see which one you like most. That way you can dream of your improvements without spending a dime. And you'll know exactly which direction to go when you do have a dime to spend.

Hey girlie! Thanks so much for visiting my applecreekcottage blog and leaving such a sweet comment too! The answer to your question is-no the roof and sliders are not fixed yet! We don't own -just renters(I hate renting can't wait to own again) and the landlord has had two different contractors out to look at it. Hopefully he and the insurance company will get it together and get the darn thing fixed! LoL! ~Tam:D

Oh such cuteness abounds here! I always love the things you have and make. So inspiring!!! Where do you find chip board? I just think that little bird picture is the sweetest little thing ever.

Your home is just stunning and all of the colors seem to work perfectly together. GREAT fireplace, too. Funny cause I don't really like mine either. May I ask what color of paint you have on your walls? I love the color that is in the picture with your baskets one on top of the other and behind the fireplace.

Have a lovely day!
