Art....My Way.

So maybe Picasso would turn in his grave seeing my "proposed art"...but hey it works for me. I am one that has a hard time drawing a stick figure.. so real art isn't gonna happen in my household. But with a little imagination and some supplies the sky is the limit . I gathered up what I had around the house and went to work. The one think I love about scrapbooking is it can be used for sooo many things...other than layouts. I used my old stamps that I got at the garage sale to stamp the C. I thought the font was cute. This is in my craft room so my initial works well here. I found that black frame as is on Tuesday at St. Vinnies for .50 and framed some scrapbook paper, buttons, and a little French enamel piece that says Family. The bird art is just a chipboard oval frame covered with paper, a diecut bird silhouette, seam binding, and more buttons. The oval frames were painted out and one I put a pearl initial in (from Michaels dollar section) hung it with ribbon and a vintage belt loop and the other is a rub on and more buttons. I have a few more projects like this to do but the ones you see took less than a few hours of playing around last night around midnight. I am a night owl. Boy am I gonna miss my late night frolics when school starts. Sigh...... I will be gone for the next couple of days on vacation. Going to the beach so I won't be around. I am excited to do a little shopping and sight seeing. Will miss you guys and hope you like my lo0se interpretation of art. What do you have lying around the house that could be art? Rofl, cherry I wanted to add a thank-you to Angela over at http://thehappyhomebody.blogspot.com/ for giving me this award

I give it out to all my blog buddies....I feel so blessed to be apart of such a kindred fellowship. Thanks Angela!

Are you kidding? Picasso has stirred in his grave and scratching at the top to get out and scream, "why in the sticking world did I spend thousands of hours painting when I could have done this?" :)

I'm like you, I can barely draw a stick figure, but although Picasso might not consider your items art, I sure do. (Like them even better than his messed up pieces.) I really love how you use ordinary items such as scrapbook paper and store bought pearl initials and make them your own. Very clever and unique, yet beutiful!

Anita said...

Okay, I have several of those pearl letters and I ADORE how you've elevated them to a whole new level! In fact, I just bought some yesterday for a hostess gift and am now going to do some elevating of my own! Thank you for a fabulous idea!

Tara Bennett said...

I am totally with you on that concept. I can really go to town with my scrapbook paper. Love it!

I bought some Modge Podge yesterday and I'm ready to try my hand at some of the craftiness I've seen online! Brilliant stuff! There's some very cool ABC cutouts at my local Wal-mays.

Thanks so much for this post! I've had some scrapbook paper and frames that I've been meaning to decorate with it for a while now, but just haven't gotten around to yet. You've just given me the inspiration to get to work on my project.

Oh yes, if I had the stamina you seem to have. I've had some canvas and paper lying around calling my name for a project... I think you just inspired me to go put it together and see what I can create! Love the scrapbook frame, where'd you find the frame?

Lorie said...

I love all your decor! Way cute ideas, but the details are fantastic! The forks holding a picture? Never would have thought of that on my own (I copy a lot)--so cute!

Pinktulip said...

Hi Cherry. This is amazing! So simple and yet so effective. I have a craft room that started with scrapbooking and now involves sewing, crocheting and many other things. I am amazed what can be achieved from my stash! From last-minute presents, cards to helping the boys to do amazing school projects. Love your ideas!

So glad to know I'm not the only one who frames scrapbook paper. My favorite this year is an 8x10 frame with cool paper and the letter "B" in the middle, then a split frame with cool paper and the letter "O" in each section. I don't think it translates in writing very well though...

EmmaP said...

i also LOVE to frame scrapbook paper!!! You make it look soooo pretty!

Laura Brown said...

I don't draw well either. But I have progressed up to stick figures, it's taken awhile. I've started a group for people who wish they could draw, one week each month we doodle and share our creations. Came here from The Secret is in the Sauce.
