I "shutter" at the thought

Not really.. but I thought it was a semi-clever little title. Pun intended. Actually these are not even shutters...although I want them to look like they are. They started their life as 70's bi-folds.....NOW THAT.. does make me "shudder at the thought." DARKKKKKKK wood...spindles at the top...you get the picture. Now are house..proud that I am of it.. isn't one of those glorious old beings that have oodles of character. I think adding shutters and old archectural salvage kinda remedies that. So I of course have shutters etc. everywhere. These I had my manly man cut in half removing the spindle top (I have ideas for this part as well). Waste not want not. I wanted an undercoat so I painted them white first and than black. Sanded and distressed and now they are hung! They hang in our hallway on either side of an old dresser, mirror, and some slipper chairs. Not bad for an after church project. I even got a Sunday afternoon nap in. Anyone else get some weekend projects done? Now I got to get back to "Breaking Dawn"....I know I am sadly behind my friend who is probley almost finished with it. Bless ya, cherry

I love the shutter project! More than I did this weekend...I think my big "project" was taking out the garbage while running to catch a train Saturday morning! :-)

Your blog is lovely (thanks for stopping by mine!) and I love your blog header photo since my passion du jour is old bikes.

So do you take visitors? Your house is simply fabulous looking it makes me want to come stay a while and take pictures of all the cute things I want to do in my home. Your title made me laugh out loud too.

:)Rachel

Enjoy your book. I need to get moving on mine.

The shutter looks great! At one time I had an old shutter hanging above my sofa and I loved it. I also love the hanging above the mirror with the flowers in it. I see those all the time but am always unsure where to put one. It looks really nice!

They look beautiful painted and hung like that on the wall.

I like your little black birds too. Think I am going to have to find some Dollar Tree birds and spray paint them black....I already have several I have painted white.

I just LOVE your blog....you are so creative.

Hi Cherry! These shutters look awesome. I repainted all the trim on my staircase this weekend. Not as fun as your project, nor as big an impact! Can you show us the whole picture - to include everything on your table? It's all so french and lovely. Yes, I did see your eraser! I loved it! I'm going to have to make one for our schoolroom. Great ideas! I can see it wrapped up pretty in cellophane for a great teacher gift, too! Nicole

You are one clever and creative girl! I'm referring to your last post re: the chalkboard and dcoupaged magic eraser. How cool is that!
I also like your shutter makeover, black paint fixes everything (and in some cases other colours too).
Oh and your wall sconces are neat too. Thanks for poppin' over to visit me. :)

I share your love for shutters. I actually took my brothers bi-fold laundry doors and painted them red, they look great in the corner of our living room. They serve a useful purpose covering an unsightly gun cabinet.
I have more shutters that I want to hang on either side of my interior windows. I've only had them a year and they are still on my carport!!
