Finding some old treasures over the weekend..

I hit a garage sale and went to my favorite thrift store and found some treasures. This will be about it for me for the season. Garage sales pretty much stop after September rolls around. Although I hit the thrift stores now and again. I thought I would share with you all what I found.
Child's type printing set...whole alpha. intact .50, Old mixing bowl...with crazy beautiful crazing 1.50, metal lazy susan .50 , old pinochle cards..with the prettiest pictures .50 for both sets , more old stamping blocks from an old grocery store .50 (putting these in an old apothecary jar filled to the brim , aprons..sighhhhh one w/ jingle bells, I can jingle when I wear it ladies...I have always wanted to jingle...truly I have 1.00 a piece . Old table with cute legs....old linoleum top..NOT so cute.. coming off 8.00, old hotel wooden hangers (I use these to hang art and scrap booking).75 for the 3, old plates..one w/ green striping is an old buffalo restaurant plate 2.00 for all 3.. you already saw the old transferware platter, old checkers/carrum board the lady gave that to me free- I think it would make a cool art piece on the wall in my son's room , sweater pillow ( may use the cover but I always pick up feather down when I find it for pillow forms) 2.00., Old picture of farmhouse 2.00, wainscot file 2.00 (will be painted my favorite color), baskets were free & some will be painted, and the little bee skein was a 1.00. I bought another antique cabinet but have to pick it up tomorrow...can't wait to find a place for it and my little table. Grand total of around 25.00.... and my happiness from finding these treasures...priceless....unless you ask my manly man. I figure I am a low maintenance woman for the most part. I don't get my nails done and my hair is only done every 3-4 months..so this is my type of splurge. I know many of you would agree. Will share once I find homes for everything. cherry

Hi Cherry,

What great finds! I love those baskets. Great idea putting the stamping blocks in the apothecary jar. Can't wait to see it!

Tell DH that it could be worse. You could shop at department stores and spend a ton more. That's what I always tell my hubby anyway. :-)

Yep, I'm with you. Rarely get my haircut. Never had a manicure or pedicure. Just give me a good garage sale or thrift store and I am happy! Love your finds. I think the old stamps are my favorite.

Wow! You did awesome!! I love that game table top, the alphabet pieces, and the dishes (I have lots of green and white, pink and white, and just plain white Buffalo china and Shenango that we use as every day dishes...love that chunky feel!). That transferware platter is gorgeous, too. What an incredible pile of goodies for a mere $25...I love that!

Yes, "Jane Eyre" is my all-time favorite book. I read it every few years. Such a wonderful story!! Can you believe I have never, ever, ever read "To Kill a Mockingbird"? How is that possible? I'll put it at the top of my list. It's been on the list...I'm a slow reader! ;o)

You did hit a great load of things. I really like the game board. It will look great hanging on the wall. My hubby always get a little apprehensive when I say I am going to find some garage sales, but he likes it when I am happy. Man I wish I could have gone shopping with you this past weekend.

Just love it all! That's the way I feel, too. I am not a high maintenance type girl and enjoy finding treasures at yard sales. I'm cheap--so what! You can get a lot of great finds for $40 or so bucks at thrift stores!

What if you used the checker board thing as a table top for your table you found? On the wall would be cool, too.

Hi dear one, Yes I have already posted once, but I want you to email me. Someone is trying to get a hold of you and said your email won't go through for them? Not sure what that means. But my email is DebbBoo9@aol.com. I will forward the email to you. She is wanting to feature you I believe! Yippeee, and saw that I had posted and she has contacted me a couple of times. Sorry if this is confusing. I just thought it would be better to forward you her email and not post it here!
Thanks, Debbie

HiCherry,
Love your treasures :) I'm having a garage sale in Sept and hope to clean out and make room for more!!
You could try to go to estate sales as they are year round :) We find MANY of our treasure there. Most we re-sale at the booth at the antique store. Take care.
Warmly, Deb
